[Podcast] Adam Bomb: My thing is legacy over currency

Legacy over currency” [1:09:30]

Adam Bomb: My whole thing is legacy over currency. I could care less about being a multimillionaire. I could care even less about the awards. If I ever have kids to leave money behind, that’s a beautiful thing, but I’ll always do what I can to support mine. I could care less about any of that. All I want to do is leave some interesting music behind, so someone can say nobody did it like this guy did it. If that ends up being only the people in my neighborhood, or the people that listen to this podcast, I’m still happy with that. I’m at a point in my life where I’m satisfied no matter what happens.

Can idols be born out of this era? [37:48]

Chedo: Dante, you wrote a letter that you posted online. You said, “Our idols are aging, this generation is hungry for new visionaries.” Can we have idols in this day of age where everything is fragmented or will they be personal idols?

Dante: I think that the notion that idols can’t be born out of this era is flawed. It hasn’t happened yet, and I think it’s because of social media, but I also think that it’s very possible, it just takes the people who are willing to put the work into their art to make them into the idol. Nobody intends to be an idol, nobody intends to be idolized, it just happens. Whenever you make something and it really resonates with somebody, they’ll look up to you…. We all have that power, we all have the ability to make something whether it be for tech, art, medicine, whatever it is, we all have the ability to make something. When I wrote that letter, that’s what I meant. It’s not a foreign concept that we can still ascend to those heights, we all can do it, it’s within us. We all have a gift that can make us a million dollars… and make ourselves someone to remember.

[Event] Gabriel Garzon-Montano June 29th @ Revival

On his debut LP, Jardín, Gabriel Garzón-Montano sings of the struggles and uncertainties of the many-layered game that is America today, from the specific doubt and double consciousness of the first-generation hustle, to the universal challenges of love, legacy, and exploring the maze of one’s own mind. A child of immigrant parents – a child of Brooklyn, NY – Garzón-Montano’s aesthetic is an extension of his French-Colombian heritage, a pastiche of Bach sonatas, cumbia records, and the machine gun funk that echoes to this day from behind half-rolled tints up and down Nostrand Ave.

What: The Main Ingredient and The Academy present Gabriel Garzón-Montano. Opening set featuring Tamera Russell.
Where: REVIVAL. 783 College St.
When: Thursday, June 29. Doors 9:00pm | Show at 10:00pm | 19+
