Hi Member,

A few months ago I received an email from a veterinarian thanking me for including some information on what to say to someone suffering mental health problems (10 things to say (& 10 not to say) to a friend suffering mental health problems) as she recently had a client who had talked about suicide.

I couldn't imagine how confronting this must have been so I emailed Dr Nadine Hamilton, psychologist, author & founder of both Love Your Pet Love Your Vet and Positive Psych Solutions and asked if she would write a post with advice for such a situation. So this week you'll find: What to do when a veterinary colleague or client self-discloses or talks about suicide.

Also this week we have a new post from Nicola (Brilliant Bookkeeping) that explains STP (Single Touch Payroll) - if you employ just one person, then you need to understand STP: Winter is coming & so is Single Touch Payroll - are you compliant?

Finally, it's your last chance to save 20% on the ticket price to attend the 'Unleashed Online Conference'. It's on THIS weekend (13-14 July) but even if you can't make all 14 hours of content, your ticket gives you 3 months access to all the recorded sessions so it's definitely worth checking out (especially with your 20% discount as a Vetanswers Member!)

Our aim has always been to help you...

Enjoy your reading :)

What to do when a veterinary colleague or client self-discloses or talks about suicide (Guest Post)

“Don’t tell anyone, but I want to end it all”. These are words none of us wants to hear. Why? Because often we feel incredibly uncomfortable with being faced with the responsibility of responding, and also because we don’t know what to say or how to respond.

Winter is coming & so is Single Touch Payroll - are you compliant? (Guest Post)

Ok so winter is here & STP has nothing to do with Game of Thrones - it stands for Single Touch Payroll. Still none the wiser? Don’t worry, you aren’t alone, but if you are one of the 700,000 small businesses in Australia with one or more employees, then you need to be.
