Hugh Jefferies, Stamps and Other Stories of the Big Bad Wolf – a Fireside chat

with Hugh Jefferies & Steven Zirinsky

About the Program

***

The British Empire Study Group invites you to a candid discussion with Hugh Jefferies, the editor of the Stanley Gibbons Catalogues. After our last talk with Hugh, we were swamped with requests to have Steve and Hugh return to explore other areas and stories from his 48-year history with Stanley Gibbons. We are delighted that he agreed to return. Steven Zirinsky brings his own unique experience with discovering and listing new finds to probe Hugh’s vast knowledge, entertaining and educating all of us.
Hugh Jefferies & Steven Zirinsky will take questions during the conversation, and after the formal talk, the doors will open to allow you to ask Hugh or Steve your questions directly. This a great opportunity for collectors to speak directly with a catalogue editor.

Please join BESG member Steven Zirinsky and Hugh Jefferies, editor of the Stanley Gibbons catalogue, the premier catalogue for Great Britain, for a conversation about the catalogue, the role of the catalogue in the hobby, and Hugh’s unique perspective on the future of our hobby. Hugh speaks to our group as a friend and not as a representative of his employer

About Steve Zirinsky

Steve

Steven Zirinsky has been involved in philately ever since the day his father dumped 10000 stamps in his lap and said, "Sort these!" when he was 10 years old.
He is now 63 and a full-time architect with his own practice, working and living in New York City with his wife Paula, son Ethan and Buddy the dog.
Steve is a member of 20+ societies, and has focused on recent commercial mail usages from smaller islands- in the Pacific and in the Atlantic. This evolved into understanding local overprints. Steve also is a part-time stamp dealer- and his wares can be found on www.zirinskystamps.com. The emphasis is on the unusual- recent commercial mail and revenues are the norm. He also maintains a monthly newsletter of special offerings He can also be contacted directly at szirinsky@cs.com.
