Speak Up News, January 10, 2018

Happy Speak Up Appreciation Week!

We have heard from a number of districts who have been navigating snow (and cold weather!) days. In response to their requests, we are extending the deadline for Speak Up 2017 participation to January 26, 2018. Everyone can take advantage of that extra week!

In honor of Speak Up Appreciation Week (this week), we are also announcing two NEW opportunities to for us thank some of those who are sharing their time and opinions. See below for more on how teachers and school communications officers can win $250 grants!

We are also extending the deadlines for all of this years challenges - our photo and video classroom challenges, and our design challenge for high school students. Please help spread the word about this opportunities!

Finally, we'd love to get your support for our People's Choice ISTE 2018 session (we need your votes!), and if you'll be at FETC at the end of the month, please join any of Julie Evans' SIX sessions! There will be lots of Speak Up data in action!

Thank you for reading! Feel free to share your thoughts with us on Facebook, Twitter, and our Blog.

We need your votes!

We submitted a new session to ISTE 2018 this year as part of their People's Choice selection. So, "ISTE people," we need to hear from you!

Please vote for our session - Thinking Critically - Using Innovative Digital Tools To Support Student Learning - with Julie Evans and Kari Stubbs from BrainPOP:

Everyone from employers to educators megaphone the need for today’s students to develop effective critical thinking skills, but few people know what that looks like in a classroom or how to measure student competency meaningfully. This session takes the conceptual understanding of critical thinking to a more practical reality.
