Dear Friend,
This was the first week that I was on my own with managing it all. It's definitely been a steep learning curve, mostly because Lisa handled so much of everything for the last few years. Thanks to everyone for your patience....especially the one person who had 17 shipping notifications voided because I couldn't figure out how to use a thermal printer.
I ran across a few things I shared with you this past week on Facebook:
1. The Harvest - Not a new documentary, but living in the desert where there are a large amount of migrant workers it opened my eyes. Over 400,000 children in America picking our fruit each year. I'll never look at a vegetable or piece of fruit the same again.
2. They Thought This Whale Was Dead - The gratitude of this whale after being cut free almost made me burst wide open. The same with these cows being set free.
I finally saw Frozen on Sunday. Forget being a Disney Princess, can I be Olaf? (and who knew Kristen Bell could sing?!)
Oh and I watched In the Name of the Father recently too. 180 from Frozen. But I love Daniel Day-Lewis.
I wrote a long status update on Facebook last night at 11pm....you've shared it a gazillion times. Wow. Thank you. I hadn't even planned to write anything last night. For those of you who don't have Facebook I'll put it on the blog at some point. Here's the quote:
“Life is difficult. This is a great truth, one of the greatest truths. It is a great truth because once we truly see this truth, we transcend it. Once we truly know that life is difficult – once we truly understand and accept it – then life is no longer difficult. Because once it is accepted, the fact that life is difficult no longer matters. “
-M. Scott Peck, The Road Less Traveled
I've started to write a post on the World Vision mess a few times but does the world really need one more opinion? The world is a confusing place these days.
I love that song by Avicii - Hey Brother:
Hey brother, there’s an endless road to re-discover.
Hey sister, do you still believe in love, I wonder?
Oh, if the sky comes falling down for you,
There’s nothing in this world I wouldn’t do.
What if I'm far from home?
Oh, brother I will hear you call.
What if I lose it all?
Oh, sister I will help you out!
Oh, if the sky comes falling down for you,
There’s nothing in this world I wouldn’t do.
Have a lovely weekend!
Ashley
P.S. This is no longer a newsletter....it's going to be a note/letter going forward. I hope you are okay with that format.
