Please make note of these upcoming changes to our summer GX class schedule for the final 2 weeks of the summer (9/5-9/18):
▪ There will be no classes held on Monday, 9/5 in observation of Labor Day.
▪ There will be no "Iyengar Yoga" class held on Wednesday, 9/7, or Wednesday, 9/14, due to the unavailability of the Student Health Center conference room.
▪ Beginning Tuesday, 9/6, our "Fitness Xpress" classes will be relocated to the OPERS Multipurpose Room.
This month we want to shine the spotlight on one of the newest members of our Personal Fitness and Group Exercise staffs, Ms. Lyndel Fusello.
Lyndel joined our Personal Fitness Training staff in January, performing one-on-one training with clients, leading Wellness Center equipment orientations, and introducing people to our services through their free initial consultations. She has also recently began teaching our GX program's "Fitness Xpress" class, a bootcamp-style circuit training workout on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays during the lunch hour.
Lyndel is an Undergraduate student at UC Santa Cruz who has a love and passion for health and fitness. Her passion stems from her experience as a competitive soccer player and the three knee surgeries she has had to overcome from her athletic background. Through the recovery process of her surgeries Lyndel witnessed first hand the value of healing, strength, and well-being. She realized that she wanted to devote her life to maintaining her health as well as helping and motivating others to obtain and maintain theirs. In order to pursue her passion Lyndel earned her personal training certification through the American Council of Exercise. Lyndel has experience with one on one training and group training in which she focuses on strength, balance and flexibility, and core work.
You can follow Lyndel on Instagram (@lyndel_fusello), and if you'd like to learn more about her classes and personal training services, please visit the Group Exercise and Personal Fitness sections of our website (fitlife.ucsc.edu), or email us at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Fall '16 GX Schedule
Our new Fall '16 schedule of weekly drop-in group exercise classes has been finalized and is now posted on our website, fitlife.ucsc.edu.
The Fall schedule will begin on Monday, September 19th, and run through Sunday, December 11th. There will be no classes held on 11/11 (Veteran's Day) or 11/24-27 (Thanksgiving Weekend). Our Winter Break schedule for classes offered between December 12th-23rd will be published sometime in late-November.
Please remember that our weekly class schedule is subject to occasional changes, though, so always refer to our class schedule on Google Calendars for the most up-to-date listing of class offerings, including last-minute class cancellations, classroom relocations, and instructor substitutions.
Monday-Sunday, September 19-25, will be our FitLife GX program's "Try Before You Buy" week, when all of our classes, as well as admission to OPERS facilities, are offered for FREE. This makes it a perfect time to invite your friends, co-workers, family members, and/or anyone else to join you in the classes that you enjoy so much or have been anxious to try. They won't be able to use cost as an excuse for turning you down because there is none this week. No need to pre-register or buy any passes, just show up to class, ready to workout (we recommend arriving early or at least on-time because many of our classes will reach their max-capacity this week).
And remember, our OPERS facilities are joining in on this promotion by offering FREE facility admission during "Try Before You Buy" week.
Now you REALLY don't have an excuse for not giving FitLife GX a try! We look forward to seeing you in class!
Mark you calendars for Tuesday, 9/20, from 3:00p-6:00p, for the annual OPERS Fest. Held annually on the Tuesday of Welcome Week, the OPERS Fall Festival is a resource fair for new undergrad and graduate students to learn about the activities and services offered at UCSC.
