November Ramblings

Hi everyone, I’m taking a short break between Fall Quilt Market and Quilt Festival here in downtown Houston. It’s turned cold overnight. I realize that term is relevant to where you live, but for us here on the Gulf Coast anytime it goes from 90 degrees one day to 40 degrees the next, well, we think that’s cold!

New Patterns

I’ve been busy in the studio trying to get things taken care of so I could attend Fall Market. One of my accomplishments was the publication of Enchanted Stars and Celestial Borealis Twilight. They are now available to download as a PDF with a limited first edition run of the printed patterns, waiting on the full order. Information is on my website.

If you will remember last newsletter, I asked for your thoughts on future pattern designs and styles…. here’s some of the feedback I received…

▪ I like planned scrappy quilts, no special rulers or tools.
▪ I like both traditional and modern patterns
▪ I like multiple size patterns
▪ I do not like scrappy or using precuts
▪ I like limited pallets
▪ I am looking for modern patterns that work with prints.
▪ I like pieces at least 3 1/2 square or larger.
▪ I am a beginner; I would love to see a pattern that is so simple that even I can do it

Secret Sewing

I have also been busy quilting a new quilt for Island Batik’s Spring Quilt Market 2020 that will be shipped this week for photographing in the upcoming Spring catalog. And, dang it, I can’t share it with you until May 2020 when it is displayed in Island Batik’s booth. Secret sewing is fun but equally frustrating as I do like “show and tell” (grin).

Simply Celebrate cover

I can however share a photo of my next pattern, Simply Celebrate, that debuted at Fall Quilt Market 2019 this past weekend in the Island Batik booth! The pattern cover is complete, with the pattern scheduled to be released sometime late November. The fabric line is not shipping until May 2020. Yeah, I know, kinda crazy the way all this works!

Fall Market Friends ~ Photos and Videos

Fall Market was a lot of fun this past weekend. I hope to be posting more photos on the blog today or tomorrow. It takes a while to go through my camera roll to narrow things down a bit before sharing! I did do a few goofy videos with my girlfriend Rosella on The Quilt Rambler FaceBook page in case you missed them. I’ve also uploaded a couple of videos to my YouTube channel concerning my Onboard Quilting Excursion! ™ event next November 2020 Quilting with The Rambler & The Redneck – I hope you will take a moment to check them out – most importantly I hope you will join us and/or share with your quilting friends. We are halfway to our goal of a full classroom so don’t delay in registering! Details www.OnboardQuiltingExcursion.com

You Heard it First!!

Later this week I will be making the announcement concerning Fall Quilt Market 2020. As a newsletter subscriber you hear it first!

During Fall Quilt Market this weekend I met with Elizabeth and Jerry from Island Batik to discuss my future Signature Collection of Island Batik fabrics for Fall Market 2020!!! I’m SOOO excited!

Signature Collection by Kathy Engle for The Quilt Rambler

Let me explain what that means. I am not designing the fabrics (dang it) instead a collection of 20 prints has been curated for me by Kathy Engle of Island Batik. My role is to support the fabric line with new patterns and to have these quilts to their office by April 15, 2020 in preparation for the Fall 2020 catalog!!! Fortunately, I will have a few of my designer friends adding their creations along with mine to make a stunning display in the Fall Quilt Market next year here in Houston!

Needless to say, I’m very honored to have been asked to have a signature collection with The Quilt Rambler branding.

Coming Soon

It’s going to be an exciting year! I am currently working on booking lecture/trunk shows as well as workshops, not to mention getting things ready for the Signature Collection secret sewing and preparing for my quilting cruise. Photos to edit, blogs to write, website to update…. oh, and I don’t want to forget to design and make quilts!

Thanks for sharing the journey with me! Please tell your friends about my patterns and your guilds that I do travel to teach. “Feed me I’m yours!

Until next time, enjoy your family and friends, we all have so much to be Thankful for!
