April Recap 2024

I found myself traveling a lot last month. Which suits me just fine.

I began April with a trip to Boston with my best high school friend Becky. We had a blast touring Boston making sure to hit cool bookstores, museums and yummy restaurants.

Then I headed up north with Jeff to meet up with our best friends from Georgia!
We had amazing weather to enjoy the tulip fields, Vancouver BC and the North Cascades.

Then Jeff and I headed south to San Diego for a quick weekend with our oldest and his wife.

I also had a few photo sessions, read a few books, worked in the garden, climbed a few walls and rode my bike.

I am so thankful for all of these opportunities!

As always, thank you for taking the time to read this newsletter and recommend me to anyone looking for a professional photographer. I really appreciate it.

Graduation Edition

This month's newsletter will focus on the various ways I offer to help my clients document the graduates in their lives.

Here are a few common questions I hear regarding graduation sessions.

1. Do you provide prints, albums, and other products?
--Yes! I am a full service photographer. With each session I meet with you and discuss the ways you want to make sure these photos are seen and shared with others.
2. Do I have to order prints, albums or other products? Can I just get digitals?
--Yes! I do offer shorter sessions that include a limited number of digitals. If you choose a larger package there is enough "buy back credit" that you can order your entire digital gallery.
3. What happens if it rains?
--I am always checking the weather. Ultimately it is up to my clients if they want to go for it or reschedule. If you have chosen a studio session no worries there!
4. Do you offer mini sessions?
--Yes, Please click on the word pricing (below) this link will take you to my pricing guide. It also explains what each session includes.

Class of 2025

Hello to those who will be graduating next year.
This is the time to begin thinking about booking that senior session for next years graduates.

It's no secret around here that Summer and Fall are our best weather windows for outdoor sessions. Don't hesitate to peek at your calendars and then give me a call.

When you book a session a 50% deposit is due with the remaining balance due the day of the session.

Grab your spot on the calendar now. With later sunsets there is plenty of time to do evening sessions during the week. I do have weekend spots available. However, my weekend spots are limited. I only offer Sunday bookings.

Your own personal Graduation photographer

Each year I am hired by parents of those graduating from both MGAES and CAA to be their graduation photographer.
This is a service I offer to help parents sit back and enjoy graduation. There is no stress about worrying if you get the shot. That is my job and I enjoy doing it for you.
I take on only 5 families from each school. It is fist come, first served. I just had my first parent ask to be put on the list for MGAES.

This service provides a quick family/friend session prior to graduation for the elementary school and post graduation for the Academy. Shots of graduates marching, receiving their diploma and any other moments when they are up front receiving awards or presenting.
All digital images are included.
This years price is $160(tax).

This is not on my website. If you'd like to have someone getting all the pictures for you reach out to me today and I will get you on the list.

Nothing To See Here by Kevin Wilson

Not my normal and I'm just too much of a realist to be able to fully enjoy a story like this.

Lillian and Madison were once close friends. They each came from very different backgrounds but bonded in an elite high school.
Then there was a scandal for which Lillian took the fall for Madison.
Years later Madison needs Lillian to save her once again.
She is now the step-mother to twins.
Twins that when agitated, spontaneously combust into flames...
These flames are dangerous to everyone and everything around them but the twins remain unharmed.

If The Tide Turns by Rachel Ruecker

Poverty, Pirates and true love.
This is historical fiction. One of the main characters, Samuel Bellamy, was a real life pirate back in the day.
The Salem witch trials are still in recent memory and becoming a Pirate may be the only way to find your way out of poverty.
Maria has the unfortunate lot in life to fall in love with Samuel. Maria's parents say he isn't good enough for their daughter.
Romantic and sad this was an entertaining story.

The Lioness of Boston by Emily Franklin

I wish I had known about Isabella Gardner before I went to Boston. I was introduced to Isabella when I toured her magnificent museum.
I was excited to read this book and learn more about this amazing woman. A woman who struggled to find her purpose in this world.
She was determined to follow her own heart and mind. Refusing to subscribe to what society told her (and all women) how they should behave.
After reading about her story I want to return to the museum and see it all again.

The Boston Girl by Anita Diamant

Addie narrates her own story as she explains her life to her granddaughter.
The central question -
"How did you get to be the woman you are today?"

A young, Jewish immigrant who isn't interested in the expected role assigned to her as a woman at the beginning of the the 20th century.

Addie explains her journey into becoming the woman her granddaughter knows today.

If you enjoy books with strong female characters this would be a good choice.

Wartime Book Club by Kate Thompson

Loved It!

This lovely novel begins in 1943 on the Isle of Jersey. A small island between France and England which is occupied by Nazi, Germany.

Grace and Bea are the main characters. Who each fight against the Nazi's in their own way. One fights to keep the library open. The other steels mail meant to inform on their neighbors.

Grace is the town's librarian and has chosen at great personal risk to lock up and hide the books the Nazi's have band. If she doesn't they will be burned and lost to history forever.

She finds ways to get precious books to her Jewish neighbor in hiding, to the wife who has sent her husband to war and to the children who's lives are so disrupted.

I love how this novel highlights the value of reading. Being allowed to read and think freely.

Each chapter begins with a quick paragraph highlighting a book banned by the Nazi's.

This book is also about the courage and importance of those who found their own ways to fight the war.

The best part is the end. Where the author has included details of the heroes that did survive the occupation of the island. Including some really interesting mail.

Iona Iverson's Rules for Commuting by Clare Pooley

This was this months book club pick.
It's a heartwarming, charming story of strangers who have nothing in common, other then commuting in the same carriage.
These strangers have all created nicknames and assumptions about each other.

As the reader, I really enjoyed how each individual was revealed as their true self.

A lovely novel
