Joyce Kim Managing Partner, SparkChain Capital

SparkChain Capital, a new $100 million early-stage fund focused on blockchain (San Francisco)

Joyce Kim co-founded Stellar, a digital currency payments platform that increases interoperability between diverse financial systems and currencies, both fiat and crypto. Stellar was the first cryptocurrency platform to focus on improving financial inclusion in the developing world by utilizing the efficiencies of crypto-currency platforms to create lower-cost financial services.

An expert in the cryptocurrency space, she has presented on cryptocurrency platforms for banks, governmental organizations, the UN and the Bank and has advised numerous crypto-related projects and ICOs.

She also serves as a Director’s Fellow at the MIT Media Lab. Prior to Stellar, Joyce was a venture capitalist at Freestyle Capital as well as an entrepreneur. She was also a corporate and M&A attorney and dedicated pro bono time at Sanctuary for Families representing immigrant women who were victims of domestic violence and the Innocence Project working on DNA exonerations.

Joyce graduated from Cornell University at the age of 19, followed by graduate school at Harvard University and Columbia Law School.

Due to her role in Amadeus Ventures, Cova works closely with startups around the world to identify collaboration opportunities with Amadeus which will transform the way we travel. Amadeus Ventures is a corporate venture fund investing in early-stage startups sitting at the crossroads of travel and technology. Amadeus Ventures has invested in startups in the fields of artificial intelligence, internet of things and ground transportation, among others. Founder of $40 million startup brings cryptocurrency to the eSports space (Seattle)

Rahul is the CEO and founder of Unikrn, a gaming and eSports company based in Seattle.

He was also the founder of luxury computer creator VoodooPC (est 1991), Voodoo was acquired by Hewlett-Packard. Rahul spent 18 years as an entrepreneur before joining Microsoft. At Microsoft he worked with startups and entrepreneurs, and created and lead Microsoft Ventures.

Rahul resigned from Microsoft in November 2014 to build Unikrn, an esports company with offices in Berlin, Seattle, Sydney and soon to be Las Vegas … Unikrn is now the Planet’s Best Bookmaker for Gamers. Unikrn is a stakeholder in Maingear PC, and the company recently acquired LEET.

Allison Wagner Olympic Gold Medalist

Allison Wagner is a former American competitive swimmer, Olympic medalist, and world record-holder. She won the gold medal in the 200-meter individual medley and the silver medal in the 400-meter individual medley at the 1993 FINA Short Course World Championships in Palma de Mallorca, Spain. In addition to being a proponent of clean sport, Allison is also a founding member of AOTO and the Al Oerter Foundation – both organizations of Olympians and Paralympians who promote the Olympic Ideals – integrity, character, respect, honor, and work ethic – through educational programs.

He has also worked abroad extensively, on projects ranging from the organization of a global ecocities summit for the Chinese Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development to the founding of an energy research and training institute in southern India. Mark is a member of the Aspen Institute family as a past Ideas Festival scholar, and in 2016 the United Nations’ International Telecommunication Union and its partners recognized him for his expertise on IoT issues with an ongoing appointment to the World Smart City Forum. An urban historian and spatial theorist by training, Mark holds advanced degrees from Ohio State and Princeton with a specialization in phenomenology and place-based identity.

East Meets West Summit is an intimate pre-event limited to 100 participants that includes all the speakers and VIP guests for East Meets West 2018 at Kualoa Ranch. Participants will take part in Hawaiian activities, roundtable discussions, and deep-dive learning opportunities. Roundtable discussions will be led by experts in their fields - with no more than 25 participants in each discussion. Transportation to and from Waikiki will be provided.
