Sunday's Service - November 1, 2020

Sermon Series ~ Shelter in Grace

The featured Scripture is: Job 19:23-27
for Mike's message:
Shelter in Grace Part 5: The Ultimate Shelter

Job was impressive at the beginning of his trials. He immediately sheltered in grace by worshiping God and trusting His wisdom (see Job 1:20-22). But the sheer physical pain, emotional turmoil, and outside criticism wore him down, moving him out of his shelter. Now there is a sudden change in Job’s tone and outlook as he looks to the future to his ultimate shelter. This week, we will turn a corner from HOPING to KNOWING. Please join us as we learn from Job 19:23-27. - Pastor Mike

Encouragement

Thank you to Darla Smith for writing and Marcia Kreps for sharing Darla's uplifting words with us.

"Another week of encouragement in store. God has been so good to us all. I am amazed at His love for us. Every day He shows up to teach us new things about His sweet love."

"My word for this week is “REBOOT." When we think of "REBOOT," we think of possibly doing that with our computer/phone/tablet etc. Too much junk has accumulated in it and it needs to start fresh. I think sometimes we are the same way. Day after day, too much stuff accumulates in our lives and we need to "REBOOT” to get back to where we can hear God’s voice. Possibly re-prioritize our priorities. Be anchored in Jesus. My dad always said to me – "put God first in your life and everything else will fall into place." Maybe check our schedule – we do not always need to help everyone all the time. Even though we want to – we can let someone else do it. Make daily time for prayer and devotion. Make family time every day. Always remember to be thankful in ALL things. God is worthy of our love and admiration. Let us clean out our stuff/junk, "REBOOT” and get a fresh, clean slate where God can be our center. Let us keep God first and let the Holy Spirit continue to guide us in everything we do!"

“If God gives such attention to the appearance of wildflowers - most of which are never even seen - don’t you think he’ll attend to you, take pride in you, do his best for you? What I’m trying to do here is to get you to relax, to not be so preoccupied with getting, so you can respond to God’s giving. People who don’t know God and the way he works fuss over these things, but you know both God and how he works. Steep your life in God-reality, God-initiative, God-provisions. Don’t worry about missing out. You’ll find all your everyday human concerns will be met." ~ Matthew 6:30-33 (MSG)

News of the Week

This week started with errands. First, we visited the OSU Extension office in Canfield, where they had more signs for us, courtesy of a pandemic grant. We also took a trip to Hilltop Lawn & Garden for a new chainsaw blade. Having a property with so many acres of woods does lead to high turnover in the blade department!

The rainy weather this week made it perfect for working inside, so we dove into sorting out the contents of the warehouse. We also spent time this week cutting up trees, cleaning out the back greenhouses, cleaning inside, making cards to send to the folks at Whispering Pines in Columbiana, and more. Today we will be making some seasonal favorite jams - Cranberry Jalapeno Jungle Jam and Cranberry Orange Juicy Jam. There is always something to do here at GG!

I was thirsty and you gave me a drink;
I was a stranger and you took me in;
I was naked and you clothed me;
I was sick and you visited me.
I was in prison and you came to me.

you were doing it to me.
