Enough is enough.

This past legislative session saw many important Republican priorities die in the Texas House: meaningful property tax reform, school choice, and important pro-life initiatives, just to name a few. The excuses we hear from liberal Republicans aren’t minor differences of opinion anymore, they’re outright lies.

Governor Greg Abbott gave the Texas House the perfect opportunity to pass common-sense legislation on critical issues facing the State of Texas, and they failed.

Liberal Republicans mocked the Governor and worked 15 minute days before adjourning. They mocked the grassroots who want results, and they think they can fool us at election time about their record.

Paul Workman once again supported the liberals, the unions, and the special interests instead of the voters. Instead of supporting taxpayers, Workman supported tax collectors. Instead of supporting kids who need school choice, specifically disabled kids who could really benefit from such schools, he sided with unions and special interests. Instead of working to help unborn babies, Paul Workman supported the liberal Republicans who killed pro-life legislation using shameless technicalities.

Paul Workman has ranked in the bottom 1/3 of Republicans the past 3 sessions in a row

This is not new for Workman. Academic studies show Workman is consistently among the most liberal Republicans in the Texas House. There is no Republican future in Texas without replacing dishonest politicians like Paul Workman.

Conservative legislation will continue to fail in this legislature unless conservatives get active and elect consistent, committed conservatives.

I am announcing today that I am running for the Texas House of Representatives to give the taxpayers of Travis County the legislation we're asking for and the results we deserve.

Sally and I don’t make this decision lightly. We know this means Mr. Workman will say every nasty thing possible about us, and spread any possible lie to distract from his record of missed opportunities and failed leadership. This is the establishment politician’s playbook. They hope that kind of politics frightens good men and women from challenging their power.

But I know this district, and I know our neighbors will see through the lies, and they will learn why conservative legislation keeps dying in the Texas House -- because of liberals like Paul Workman.
