We might just use this photo until we're 80 and remain 'forever young'! Seriously though, it's one of our favorite photos taken in the Grand Place in Brussels.

Hey Friends,

We hope you're doing well and had an enjoyable summer.

Fall is a busy time of year for most of us and we're sure you're off and running with the fall season as we are!

Jeff leaves soon for several weeks of Elevate Europe events and meetings in Belgium, Slovakia, France, and Amsterdam.

Details are below, but before that we have a few prayer requests:

June Slaughter
Jeff's mom had a rare form of cancer in her nose a few years ago and unfortunately, it has returned. After several months of tests and meetings with doctors, she will have surgery early November so that doctors can try and remove as much as possible. The cancer has spread near one eye, is nearing her brain and may be in an early stage in her lungs. So .... not good. Mom's faith is strong and as she says, she's 'ready to go', but will fight this as long as she can.
Please keep her in your prayers as she walks this road again.

We were surprised to learn that the Army is on Facebook and posts 20 random photos from each soldier's platoon on Saturdays. We were excited to see a photo of Nick early on in his training.

Nick
Nick is doing well in Basic Training for the Army National Guard from which he graduates October 26. Kathy and Kayleigh will attend the graduation as Jeff will be in Europe. I (Jeff) hope to make his second graduation from Army Medic training at Fort Sam Houston in San Antonio in the spring of 2018. We're proud of our soldier and looking forward to having him home after his training in San Antonio at which time he'll start nursing school.
Please pray that Nick finishes well and is a strong witness to his fellow soldiers.

Kathy
Kathy has had a rash of bad migraines the past few weeks. If you know Kathy you know she has struggled with these headaches since she was a teenager. We're trusting God for a solution. Please remember her in your prayers.

Jeff
Below are brief descriptions of my upcoming ministry events, projects and meetings.
Please pray for me as I travel, minister, rehearse with the Christian Center Christmas team and meet with pastors and leaders in preparation for 2018 projects.

Thanks so much for taking time to catch up with us and pray for us!

We appreciate you!
Jeff and Kathy Slaughter

Brussels: Christian Center Christmas Program Rehearsals

Christmas Choir

For the first time since 2014 I'm directing the Brussels Christian Center Outreach Christmas program. I've already put the program together and have a team in place to carry out various parts including the band, singers, choir, dancers, children, youth, decoration, sound and lights. I's a big production with many moving parts and we expect about 1,000 folks to attend the December 10 event. So excited to be involved in this great ministry opportunity again!

Paris: ConVerge Parnership Meeting

ConVerge Paris

I'll meet with Johan Sode, who directs a ministry for the Francophone nations called 'LTC' ('Louange/Traduction/Composition' or 'Worship/Translation/Songwriting'). Johan connected me with Kathryn Baxter, who organized our ConVerge Paris events for five years. Kathyn is passing the baton on to the next organizer and I'm meeting with Johan to move that forward.

I'm meeting with Pastors of Christ Worship Center in Amsterdam on October 10 to plan 'ConVerge Amsterdam' for 2018. Years ago, i met Pastors James and Gaby Worthington and Pastor George Worthington. We rekindled our relationship this summer when they hosted a 'Focus' training event and worship concert in July. I'll be meeting with the Worthingtons and a group of other pastors to plan ConVerge together. Excited to see this relationship grow!

Brussels: Spark Leadership Meeting

Due to a scheduling conflict with our teaching team, we had to reschedule our next Spark Church Media Conference. We've set a new date for February 24, 2018 and I'll be meeting with our leadership team in Brussels to further develop our program for the day. Excited about this conference which will train social media managers, bloggers, website designers, graphic designers, photographers, and videographers involved in church and ministry communications.
