Happy 4th of July! We hope that you have a wonderful and safe day celebrating America's Independence and the freedoms we are all able to enjoy. We are very grateful to those who help protect these freedoms. We have put together some last minute ideas to help you celebrate this evening if you still need fantastic DIY food ideas, decor ideas, or activities! One of our family's favorite holiday treat are these yummy Fourth of July Patriotic Parfaits! The kids always make the special request and ask for them. They can even help make them by sprinkling the blueberries on the top.

One of my favorite things to see on Facebook is the Remodelaholic Reader Questions and Finished Projects. It is so fun to see what everyone is working on as well as their finished projects. Tracy sent us this photo of a beautiful humidor that they fixed up for her husband's contractor! She said,

"I found this old humidor in a thrift store. It was a mess! The legs were loose, the door was crooked, the copper lining inside was dented and coming loose, and it was just an all around sad little thing. So, (of course!) I took it home. My husbands cousin is a contractor, who LOVES cigars, and he built our dream house when we moved to NH. His son is a Marine, and he was hit by an IED in Iraq. He suffers from a traumatic brain injury, PTSD, and a few other issues. So, when I was trying to figure out how to bring this baby back to life, doing an Americana theme was the only way to go. I stripped, sanded, painted, antiqued, and stenciled until I was satisfied it would honor our Marine. The finishing touch was adding an eagle that I had wood burned a few years ago wrapped in cording. I still need to poly it, add some felt pads to the table legs, and shim the door a little, but overall, I think it came out well!"

What a wonderful project! We love the new look and the meaning and thought you put into each detail. It is an incredible finish! Thank you for sharing it with us! We love seeing what you've done!
