Sunday's Service - September 12, 2021 | The featured Scripture is: 1 Peter 1:3-5 for Mike's message: Sojourners Part 4 ~The Benefits of New Birth. Join us Sunday ~ In-Person & Online Worship at 11am Connecting Life Church Facebook Page Come Grow With Us! | A Message from Pastor Mike Well friends, it's that time again! Summer is coming to an end and fall is just about to begin! I love the fall. In fact, I love when the new season begins. It always reminds me that God offers us new beginnings as well. I will be the first to admit that life can easily become distracted with non-eternal things. Summer fun and vacations turn into school schedules for the kids, soccer games, dance lessons, and Steeler football. (Hey, don't judge! I know Browns fans can relate! lol) It doesn't take much to take our focus off of our faith in Christ and our commitment to His church does it? We can quickly and easily get distracted and build new, and not so healthy, spiritual habits. Let me invite you to recalibrate your faith. Let me invite you to be refreshed once again by the Gospel. The good news of what Jesus has done for us on the cross. Simple faith in His redemptive work can change a heart, a life, a home, an eternity, and set you in motion to live in God's will and be obedient to His word. God, in His mercy and grace is ready to refresh your faith even as you read this. He can do it in a moment. All it takes is a heart that wants Him above all things. This Sunday, I will be preaching on 1 Peter 1:3-5 (ESV). "Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! In his great mercy he has given us new birth into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, and into an inheritance that can never perish, spoil or fade. This inheritance is kept in heaven for you, who through faith are shielded by God’s power until the coming of the salvation that is ready to be revealed in the last time." Our New Birth in Christ gives us a living hope, an eternal inheritance, and a secure salvation. Take time today to consider the words of Peter and come close to God in thanksgiving and prayer. Then we'll gather on Sunday, in person or online, to celebrate the new birth He has given us! Blessings to all of you as we serve together! "God is certainly blessing Ohio with some beautiful weather. Prayers go out to the locations hit with storms and flooding. May the damage be minimal for those dear people. Seasons are changing – you can feel it in the air. Cooler temperatures coming here in the Northeast. An old song just came to my mind, sung by the Byrds. "Turn, turn, turn." It was written in the late 1950’s and based on Ecclesiastes in the Bible. Just a little side note of history." "That brings me to the Word for the week that God laid on my heart – “TIMING.” God has been giving me lessons on “timing” in the past year or so. Making me more aware of things that happen around us every day. Like possibly spilling my coffee and making me run late – only to see an accident up ahead that maybe just occurred. Just a coincidence? My thoughts are God’s perfect “timing.” Sometimes God’s “timing” doesn’t come soon enough for us – or sometimes we may think God’s “timing” is too late. God dealt with me and His perfect “timing” when my dad wasn’t healed the way I wanted him to be. But through it all – God’s “timing” was right on time. We don’t always understand here on earth and when we get to heaven – “timing” will not matter anymore. Listen to the Holy Spirit and get tuned into God’s “timing.” He will lead us where we need to be right when we need to be there to reach out to a friend in need. Listen for God’s “timing” in the middle of the night when someone crosses our mind. Pray for them. Listen for God’s “timing” when we are in the store, or on the phone, or get a text – let’s be attentive to God’s “timing” in all we do. He has the ultimate plan for our lives. Let’s get tuned in to His “timing” to be our guide. I pray you all have God’s perfect “timing” in your lives." But, beloved, do not forget this one thing, that with the Lord one day is as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day. ~ 2 Peter 3:8 (NKJV) | September Worship ~ Online & In-Person Pastor Mike Hileman ~ Sundays at 11:00am Join us at church or online via Facebook Live: Connecting Life We're excited to welcome you to Worship, in church and online!
