An afternoon of dance

Bristol marathon fun
More than 7,500 runners passed by Riversway Nursing Home recently, and our residents Betty and Olive were there to greet them – including our very own nurse Julian.
The runners were taking part in the Bristol marathon, and Riversway was on the route, so Betty and Olive waited at the end of our drive to give ‘high-fives’ to many of those who passed.

Music and movement at Riversway
Riversway residents Lucy and Marianne were among those who got involved in one of our regular Music and Movement classes recently.
Exercise is an important part of everyone’s life, and on this occasion we warmed up by bouncing balloons round the room, followed by stretches and other movements.
Afterwards we meditated until the afternoon tea arrived – a great way to end the activity. |
Treasure hunting
It was a case of x marked the spot recently as a group from Riversway nursing home took a trip to the wonderful Oakham Treasures.
One of the largest privately–owned museums of retail and farming history in the UK, the award-winning Bristol attraction is a great place to spend some time.
Our group loved looking at the items from the past, and reliving plenty of happy memories. |

Deal or No Deal at Springhill Care Home
Residents and staff at Springhill Care Home got the chance to take part in their own game of popular TV show, Deal or No Deal recently.
The group at our Accrington home spent an afternoon playing the interactive version of the quiz in one of the lounges.
Everyone involved got into the spirit of the show, really enjoying themselves taking it in turn to pick the numbers. While we didn’t ‘Beat the Banker,’ we did have a great time! |
Coffee and cake for a good cause
Staff and residents at Springhill recently took part in the World’s Biggest Coffee Morning, Macmillan Cancer Support’s nationwide fundraising event to help people affected by cancer.
Delicious homemade cakes were on sale, accompanied by tea and coffee, with proceeds going directly to Macmillan.
Funds were also raised through a raffle and a competition to guess the number of dots on a poster.
We’ve counted up the money and are happy to say more than £100 has been raised. Well done and thank you to everyone who took part. |
Pretty in pink at Springhill Care Home
Springhill Care Home was a sea of cerise, magenta and fuchsia as residents and staff took part in a charity day to support breast cancer awareness.
Breast Cancer Now’s ‘wear it pink’ campaign saw thousands of people across the country donating money towards breast cancer research, in exchange for having pink themed fun.
