Race Day Volunteer Sign Up!

It truly takes a village, an entire village to run a mountain bike race. We need to fill 130-160 volunteer positions to create an optimal race day experience for our riders (most importantly), parents, and spectators. And it's also fun! Please volunteer and ensure a safe experience for everyone involved!

Race Day Schedule Changes

Even the best laid plans need adjustment. As the Minnesota High School Cycling League prepares for growth in the 2016, not everything was predicted. Yesterday the league surpassed 800 registered student-athletes for the 2016 season (AWESOME!) but the growth was not evenly distributed. Our middle school growth has been higher then all expectation and to accommodate, we will be adjusting the race day schedule and scoring.
Middle school individual and team points will be broken down by D1 and D2 teams. The division certification will be based on the high school certification. The D2 scoring model will be used for both D1 and D2 middle school points calculations. For 2016, the Minnesota High School Cycling League will award the following team awards at each race and for the season points:
• D1 Middle School Team (1st – 3rd)
• D2 Middle School Team (1st – 3rd)
The following individual awards will be presented at each race and the year-end awards:
• 8th Grade, D1 Boys
• 8th Grade, D2 Boys
• 8th Grade, Girls
• 7th Grade, D1 Boys
• 7th Grade, D2 Boys
• 7th Grade, Girls
The following schedule will be used at all “regular season” races. Middle school as been expanded to show the individual wave timing.
Regular Season Sunday Schedule
7:00 - PitZone/Registration Opens
7:30 – Pre Ride Opens
7:45 – Last Pre Riders Enter Course
8:00 – Coaches Meeting
8:30 – Middle School Race

8:30 – 8th Grade Boys D1

8:38 – 8th Grade Boys D2

8:46 – 8th Grade Girls

8:54 – 7th Grade Boys D1

9:02 – 7th Grade Boys D2

9:10 – 7th Grade Girls

10:00 – Freshman/Sophomore Boys
12:00 – Freshman/Sophomore/JV/Varsity Girls
2:00 – JV/Varsity Boys
4:00 – Racing Ends/Tear Down
4:30 – Awards
Staging will be 15 minutes prior to an individual wave start. On-site registration will close 1 hour prior to race start. The schedule will be evaluated throughout the season and adjusted as-needed.

We have an official meteorologist!

Say hello to Kristin Clark, the MN League Official Meteorologist for the 2016 race season and the owner of 2WheelWeather. Kristen graciously volunteered her time and expertise to produce weather forecasts for each of our races this season.
"2WheelWeather is proud to support the League by providing race specific weather forecasts for the 2016 season. These "CycleCasts" provide a forecast specifically for the race course, right down to trail level! This in-depth analysis of the forecast with graphics and information help determine the best way to prepare for the event. Kristin Clark, a certified broadcast meteorologist and mountain biker, covers weather conditions before and during the event to give racers, volunteers and spectators crucial weather information to better prepare for the elements. 2WheelWeather is not just telling the weather but why the weather is the way it is, and this educates and empowers young cyclists with the knowledge to ride their best on the trail!"
You'll find the race Cycle Casts on the League social media platforms as well as our website.
Thanks so much Kristen and welcome aboard!
