Dear Friends,

"Strength does not come from physical capacity. It comes from an indomitable will" - Mahatma Gandhi.

As the dust begins to settle in the aftermath of Operation Protective Edge, challenges lie ahead. The fighting may have stopped, but the road to recovery is long and the side effects of the war will be felt for many months. Rehabilitation needs to become the top social project of the Israeli government and WIZO as the largest provider of social welfare services in the country will be a fully fledged partner in this initiative.

Israeli society displayed impressive resilience and solidarity during Operation Protective Edge and proved that the Jewish State's true source of strength lies not in its military prowess but in the strength of will and power of determination of all its citizens.

With warm WIZO regards,

A group of women have been working to change this, specifically to ensure that women have a seat at the table where strategies are formed and major decisions are made. Read more...

The hate that starts with Jews never ends there

Jews in Europe have been shaken these past few weeks by the virulence of the demonstrations about the war in Gaza that also turned into something older and darker, writes Britain’s former chief rabbi, Lord Jonathan Sacks. He argues that the new anti-Semitism is different from the old. In the past Jews were hated for their religion, then for their race. Today they are hated for their nation state. Read more...
