The button below will take you to a message from Pastor Mike. Please take a few minutes to
watch this video and learn about our leadership's plan to move forward to ensure we can
gather while keeping everyone as safe as possible. We are looking forward to gathering
online and in-person to Worship with you this Sunday!

Sunday's Service - August 2, 2020

In-Person & Online @ 11am

The featured scripture verses are: Colossians 3:16 & James 5:16
for Mike's message: One Another Part 6 ~ Teach & Pray for One Another.

This week's message focuses on the collaborative life of Christ followers through ministry of accountability. Accountability is part of the Christian Life. For accountability to take place in the life of the Christ follower, the believer needs to remain teachable. In order to be teachable, we need to remain approachable. Being approachable allows others to show us our blind spots. Blind spots come in all shapes and sizes; whether those blind spots are: moral, ethical, theological, or spiritual, we need to remain open to others speaking truth into our lives. When a brother or sister has permission to speak truth into our lives, it gives us the opportunity to grow. It's through the ministry of teaching and prayer that we see brothers and sisters restored, healed, and growing in the
grace and knowledge of Jesus Christ. Church, let us teach and pray for one another!
Accountability is not bad, it's vital to your growth in Christ!

"Let the message of Christ dwell among you richly as you teach and admonish one another
with all wisdom through psalms, hymns, and songs from the Spirit, singing to God
with gratitude in your hearts." Colossians 3:16

"Therefore confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed.
The prayer of a righteous person is powerful and effective." James 5:16

Children's Ministry

Collide Kids Wednesday's Weekly Video:
Trust in God!

The lesson comes from 1 Peter 5:7 ~ “Give all your worries and cares to God, for he cares about you.” This week, we are learning how to give our worries to God and trust Him! Remember, you don't have to be a BIG kid to make a BIG difference!

Danielle gives good discussion starters in these lessons, like this week's question - Talk about a time you were so sick, you had to miss school. We'd love to hear your answers! Feel free to let us know by email or on Facebook. Big thanks to Danielle Taylor and Pastor Mike for all their work on this weekly online way to connect and grow!

How can we pray for you?

Whenever you have a prayer request, please don't hesitate to send it in! We are here to pray with and for you. Please take a minute to send in your prayer needs by early Monday mornings for inclusion in the weekly Joys & Concerns email. We are also glad to send out prayer requests and praise reports anytime throughout the week!

Encouragement

Thank you to Marcia for sharing and Darla for writing these weekly words of encouragement. With all that is going on in the world today, this is certainly a timely topic to take to heart.

"I pray your week has been over the top wonderful so far. God is certainly a good, good father. Every day I can find numerous things that have God's name written all over them. Behold the glory of our Savior."

"Our word for the week is ATTITUDE. How is our attitude this week? Funny story about me yesterday. Was trying to hurry and boil eggs before leaving for work. (Please note the other word hurry - should have been done the night before.) I thought I had put the egg carton the whole way on the counter, not just halfway. You get the picture..... a carton with 6 eggs ended up on the floor. Now scrambling to clean up eggs off the kitchen floor put me behind. I got in the car and realized I should have gotten gas before I was running late. Get to the pump and for some reason the card reader was not working - well you get where I am going now. When I got back into my car I had to laugh. As sure as I was sitting there the enemy tried to mess up my day and my ATTITUDE. But I declared - NOT TODAY! I thanked the Lord I have a job to go to. ATTITUDE is everything. It could have changed the whole outcome of my day. Now I know all of us may be going through tough times, decisions, sickness, discouragement, fatigue, or maybe just "dropped eggs." Whatever it is, make sure to check your ATTITUDE. In all things we need to be thankful and grateful. I know that is hard for our human heart to sometimes understand, but that is how I have been trying to be every day. Thankful and grateful no matter what comes my way. Let's make sure our ATTITUDE will be pleasing to our Good Good Father!"
~ Darla Smith

A cheerful heart is good medicine, but a broken spirit saps a person's strength. ~ Proverbs 17:22

NEWS & EVENTS

News of the Week

We have been busy outside this week, working on our never-ending weed battle as well as wielding chainsaws while cleaning up some downed trees. Everyone has definitely used their muscles this week! We are now at the part of the summer where crops are growing like crazy and need plenty of water, which is another task that takes up much of our crew's time. We've also enjoyed some critter visits this week, including with our new frog friend who likes to hang around on the patio as well as Chewy the dog who joined us for the CSA harvest! It has been a fun week with the animals! Our duties this week also have us working to reconfigure the seating in Common Ground's Sanctuary again, to help the congregation observe the social distancing guidelines. We are all trying to do our part here at GG to help keep everyone as safe as possible and to try to slow the spread of COVID-19.

~~~~~~~
For I was hungry and you gave me food;
I was thirsty and you gave me a drink;
I was a stranger and you took me in;
I was naked and you clothed me;
I was sick and you visited me.
I was in prison and you came to me.
.....When you did it to one of the least of these my brothers and sisters,
you were doing it to me.
