Weatherization Works

Weatherization Works

Applications are now open for weatherization program! Reduce energy bills and keep the home warmer and more comfortable. Here are some examples from recent recipients of weatherization services:

"Gerry lives in a mobile home park in New Hope. She is 62 and living on Social Security Disability, an annual income of about $9,000. Gerry has been on disability for about ten years as a result of being at the World Trade Center on 9/11. She suffers from cancer as a result of her exposure. BCOC weatherized her home in 2015. BCOC provided over $6,000 in weatherization measures such as insulation, air sealing and duct repair."

"Scott served in the military and worked his entire life often having more than one job at a time. He was recently diagnosed with Osteoarthritis and is now living on Social Security Disability. BCOC weatherized his mobile home in 2016, providing more than $6,000 on weatherization measures so that, as Scott describes, his “feet won’t freeze in the winter.”

Financial and structurally eligible homes will have a whole house audit to identify areas where insulation, weather stripping and more can reduce the energy use in a home by tightening it up. Call Weatherization and Home Energy Services at 215-345-3302 or visit our website to apply today.

A Place to Lay Her Head

One of our Self Sufficiency clients, Kelly, had a difficult December. Her apartment building was flooded right before Christmas, and she lost everything! Thankfully, a few generous people in our community donated gifts and funds for her to be able to have a Christmas. Now, she is rebuilding in a new home with her daughter. She's secured some furniture, but is in great need of a bed or two. If you have a bed frame to donate, please contact Eileen at ealbillar@bcoc.org. We cannot accept used mattresses, but new mattresses will be accepted! Donations that can be delivered to Kelly are even better, as BCOC has limited capacity to transport large or bulk items.
