The path of Dharma – the teaching of awakening – is, to a large degree, a journey rather than a destination. In this weekend silent retreat, we will gather together to reflect on the year with compassion and wisdom.
Sometimes life seems very difficult. And sometimes, despite our best intentions, we make mistakes. The practice of Self Compassion supports us to realize we too are human. In order to heal, we need to let go of past actions and focus our good intentions toward creating wholesome internal states. For when our thoughts are based in generosity, loving-kindness, and wisdom – the wholesome roots – our speech and actions will follow.
This retreat will include periods of silent meditation using open awareness practice and concentration on the breath. The Tibetan meditation of Vajrasattva will be explored. We will also practice guided self-compassion meditation and have time for reflection and contemplation.
There will be daily Dharma talks and group interviews with the teacher. Yoga as a form of moving mindfulness will be offered.
The retreat will begin on Friday, Dec 13th with check-in between 9:00 and 10:30. The retreat will begin at 11:00. Lunch will be served at 12:00. Check-out by 12:00 pm on Sunday, Dec 15th.
