LA MUSA AWARDS WILL BE HELD ON OCTOBER 18 IN THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH.

Miami, FL. (October 17, 2014)---Spanish Broadcasting System, Inc. (SBS) (Nasdaq: SBSA) announced today that La Musa Awards has posthumously honored Mr. Pablo Raul Alarcon with its 2014 Desi Arnaz Pioneer Award (Premio Pionero Desi Arnaz), in recognition of his extraordinary contribution to the development of radio and Latin music in the United States. Mr. Raul Alarcon, Jr. will accept the award at the Ritz-Carlton South Beach, presented by Latin Songwriters Hall of Fame (LSHOF), which takes place on October 18, 2014.

“The 2014 Desi Arnaz Pioneer Award (Premio Pionero Desi Arnaz)” will honor the Late Latin media visionary Pablo Raul Alarcon, Sr. (1926-2008), who founded Spanish Broadcasting System, Inc. (SBS) in 1983.

Mr. Alarcon, Sr. began his career in Spanish-language radio broadcasting in the early 1950’s when he established his first radio station in Camaguey, Cuba. Upon his arrival in the United States, Mr. Alarcon continued his career in radio broadcasting as an on-air personality for a New York radio station before being promoted to Programming Director. Mr. Alarcon subsequently owned and operated a recording studio and an advertising agency before purchasing SBS’s first radio station and founding the company in 1983 with his son Raul Alarcon Jr.

Anchorman/ producer Ismael Cala will present the award to Mr. Alarcon, Jr. in honor of his father.

The Latin Songwriters Hall Of Fame Induction Gala, LA MUSA AWARDS™, will be honoring these world-famous Latin music creators for their unforgettable songs in both Spanish and Portuguese and will feature exciting performances and moving tributes by some of the most talented artists in the music world.
