How can we pray for you?

We are here to pray with and for you, anytime! Prayer needs sent by early Monday morning will be included in the weekly Joys & Concerns email. We are also glad to send out prayer requests and praise reports anytime throughout the week!

Encouragement

Thank you to Marcia Kreps for sharing and Darla Smith for writing these weekly bits of encouragement.

"We are so blessed to be called the family of God! His mercies are new to us every morning. His glory shines all around us. Blessed be His Name. Well, my garden and flowers are giving their last hurrah! I have so enjoyed the colors, the birds, the bees, the butterflies, and all the visitors in my backyard this summer. All God’s creatures great and small. No matter what goes on around us – we are still so blessed to enjoy the presence of the Almighty!"

"The Word God gave me for this week is “TRUST.” My thoughts went back to when Gabe was very little, and we were at my sister’s house swimming. My dad was in the water with his arms ready to catch Gabe. At first, he was very hesitant and didn’t want to jump in - even though Dad was ready to catch him. Dad would say, “Trust me, Gabe." Before too long, Gabe was jumping in. (Sometimes before dad was looking!) But Gabe knew and had “trust” that dad would catch him. Isn’t that just like our God? He will be there for us if we would just “trust” Him in everything. “Trust” Him with our whole heart, not just a part. We need to “trust” Him in the good times and the bad times. We need to know and “trust” that God is working all things for our good. God is always looking - so let’s jump in with all our “trust.” He will never let us fall. “Trust” in the Lord with all our heart - not with our understanding but with His understanding! Have a wonderful week full of “trusting” in the Lord with your whole heart. Let Him handle it."

The Lord is my strength and shield.
I trust him with all my heart.
He helps me, and my heart is filled with joy.
I burst out in songs of thanksgiving.
~ Psalm 28:7 (NLT)

News of the Week

We were excited to meet a new friend on Monday. She learned about the Giveaway from WKBN and has now brought several loads of donations! We also spent time harvesting produce for the food pantry. Then on Tuesday, some of us traveled to Lowellville to pick up donations of useable items from two houses. It was a week full of giving and caring for our valley!

We had some beautiful weather this week - perfect for enjoying our woods with a nature walk. We are keeping an eye out for all the colorful leaves of fall!

Much of this week has been spent making more jam. Our peach jams have been selling like crazy and people have been eager to try the new Dragon Jungle Jam! Kitty will be at the event at Firestone Farms on Saturday evening with plenty of jam, ready for all your jam needs.

Today is our final CSA Day of the 2021 season. It sure did go fast! We are so grateful for all the wonderful subscribers and all the support we have had for GG. CSA information for the 2022 season will be out this winter.

Remember ~ We are collecting both egg shells and egg cartons. Additionally, we would love to put your coffee grounds to work, enriching our soil. Feel free to drop any of these items off at the front desk. Thanks!

GG at Firestone Farms

Kitty will be manning a table this Saturday at Firestone Farms. Stop by and chat with her and get some Jungle Jam or Juicy Jam to take home!

Jungle Jam & Juicy Jam

Jungle Jam and Juicy Jam are available in several flavors at
Reach for the STARS in Salem as well as in Columbiana at
the Columbiana Chamber of Commerce office.
We are also very glad to arrange a jam pick up at GG.

For I was hungry and you gave me food;
I was thirsty and you gave me a drink;
I was a stranger and you took me in;
I was naked and you clothed me;
I was sick and you visited me.
I was in prison and you came to me.

you were doing it to me.

GLOW, Girls Leading Our World, Kick-Off

Saturday, 1-4pm, Columbiana's First Presbyterian Church
Event by The Way Station
This free fun event is to promote and engage families and girls in the Columbiana GLOW program. At the kick-off:
-t-shirts can be tie-dyed
-succulents can be planted in fun vintage mugs
-sign-up for a 20-minute yoga session
-layer on your perspective to a community art piece
-get your face painted
-compete in old school fair games (egg race, sack race, egg, toss, and hula hoop off)
GLOW is a free program focused on helping Columbiana County 5-12th grade girls retain, cultivate, & develop a greater sense of self-esteem & self-worth. We do this through games, arts & crafts, community service, lessons, & guest speakers.
GLOW exists because a study of 10,000 plus girls found that on average a girl’s confidence plummets between 5th and 9th grade and it does not rebound to pre-middle school levels till after high school. That’s where GLOW steps in.
