Fresh Scrap Quilt Ideas + Projects to Help Breast Cancer Patients

Greetings Quilty Friends!

This week I've got some fun scrap quilt patterns and ideas for you! It's so easy to end up with leftover fabric scraps after every project. If you put those valuable leftovers to good use, you can get an additional 'free' quilt or two (or more) from all of those remnants! The trick is to find the best way to corral and organize those scraps, plus inspiring ways to put them to good use.

This week, I've got some fun suggestions for you!

I'm also sharing some sweet projects to support Breast Cancer Awareness and those who are currently going through treatment.

This week I released the updated version of my Scrap Happy Rainbow Connection quilt pattern. This quilt is one of my favorites for using up all of your favorite leftover scraps!

The new pattern has instructions for Baby, Throw, Twin, Queen, and King size versions. (Quilt shown is a Twin size.)

There are so many fun variations that could be made with this design.

The Scrap Happy Rainbow Connection pattern is 25% off this week in PDF (available right away) and Hard Copy (Preorder) formats!

As quilters, many of us end up with lots of fabric scraps leftover from making projects. These valuable bits of fabric have so much potential, but can easily start to feel overwhelming and out of control.

Here are some of my favorite tips for sorting, storing, and using your fabric scraps!

Speaking of scrap quilts, here's a quilt from the archives that's perfect for this season.

By adding other black and orange scraps to a little bit of Halloween fabric stash, I was able to get a whole Halloween quilt entirely from leftovers.

Fun Finds on the Web this week:

October is Breast Cancer awareness month. As I'm growing older and have multiple close personal friends who have battled Breast Cancer I am becoming more passionate and compassionate regarding this issue. Here are a few projects that can support or help those with this fight right now.

Andy from A Bright Corner shares her story along with this Heartstrings Quilt Block Tutorial. (Also another great scrap project!)

Sachiko of Tea Rose Home shares her story as well as a very simple way to help those recovering from a mastectomy. These heart shaped pillows fit under the armpit, offering comfort and relief during recovery. They are a simple gift to make for a friend or to donate to an oncologist where they can give them to patients.

ByAnnie is hosting a whole series of blog posts and tutorials (and giveaways!) in conjunction with Breast Cancer Awareness Month - including a free pattern for a Bosom Buddy Seat Belt Cushion.

Fall Hike

Here's a view from a hike in the nearby mountains this week. It was breathtaking! We're having beautiful weather here and I'm trying to soak the gorgeous scenery as much as I can.

Normally at this point I'm kind of getting excited for cooler temperatures and time to get cozy inside for the winter, but this year I'm making the most of every last day of good weather as a time to visit outside with friends before this dang winter of Covid isolation sets in. I'm going to have to get more creative in connecting with people.

I hope life is treating you as well as possible where ever you are! Stay safe and sending best wishes from my house to yours.

xo,

Amy
