HAPPY SUMMERTIME!

We did it.....our organization has delivered over 1,000,000 pillowcases! We are honored to be a part of this group that brings so much joy to the children in the hospitals. (Our chapter here in Los Angeles has gone over our16,000 mark in just 4 years). As part of this celebration we are going to be handing out a ONE IN A MILLION pillowcase on September 17th at CHILDERN'S HOSPITAL LOS ANGELES -- where we delivered our first pillowcases when we started 4 years ago. Our plan is to do this on SEPTEMBER , 17th, 2015 as this is part of our MILE OF PILLOWCASE SMILES EVENTS ! Stay tuned for more details on this event and MILES OF PILLOWCASE SMILES events to be listed soon.

LOOK FOR OUR NEW NAME!! We are changing our name to Ryan's Case for Smiles ( commonly known as CASE for SMILES) We hope to launch the new website in JULY and we will
be showcasing our new TAG LINE - "Helping kids feel better to heal better". We have decided on this change in order to reflect the fact that all sick kids need to feel better and not just selecting out cancer children as our only focus. We have never really focused on just kids with cancer, but because of our name it comes across that way, which is why they are making the change.

Ryan is Cindy Kerr's son who was the inspiration for all of this. He was diagnosed with cancer and she wanted to make him feel better while in the hospital and started making him pillowcases
to brighten his room. The other children also loved the pillowcases so she would bring them for the other children and so it started. Unfortunately, we lost Ryan but he wanted his family to continue to make the children pillowcases.

Made some awesome deliveries to CHILDREN'S HOSPITALS - LOS ANGELES, KAISER DOWNEY, MILLER'S CHILDREN'S HOSPITAL (Long Beach) and KAISER IN FONTANA.
Here is my sister Kathy and Doug Leffin, Child Life Specialist at CHLA when she delivered 160 absolutely adorable pillowcases! Thank you for your help and support!
Also, wanted to thank Debbie who took a wonderful delivery out to Kaiser Hospital in Fontana for us this month of 200 pillowcases. These ladies along with all the other volunteers -- those who cut pillowcase kits, sew them up, wash them, iron them and package them are all part of the many steps it takes to get them ready for delivery Without all of my helpers we would not have delivered over 16,000 in the past 4 years. Thank you seems so simple but it is from the heart! . Your support is amazing and each of you is appreciated.

UPCOMING EVENTS - JUNE 2015
NEW SEWING LOCATION -- June 6th, 2015 SEW 4 KIDS at the ALTA LOMA SEW N VAC - 7232 Archibald Ave (at Baseline) Alta Loma, California 91701 (909) 987 2141 from 10 am to 4pm. Come by and check out what we do -- we need your help. No sewing experience necessary! We can teach you how to make a pillowcase. We make pillowcases for kids hospitalized in local hospitals fighting cancer or other serious illnesses. Bring your machine if you have one or use one of ours. Bring your friends and relatives to help. Also if you cannot attend the event, you can still make pillowcases and drop them off at the location or drop off donations of 100% cotton prints or Flannel material in children's prints and solids to coordinate. We work with children from 1 to 20 years old and teen prints are the ones we are always in need of --especially young men. Any help is appreciated. Hope to see you there.

NEW June 20, 2015 SEW 4 KIDS AT SAN DIMAS ROYALE ESTATES (MOBILE HOME PARK) at 1630 W Covina Blvd, San Dimas, Ca 91773 in the Recreation Room from 10 am to 5pm. Join us for a great time with awesome people. We have plenty of room so bring your machine if you have one or use one of ours. We have wonderful volunteers who will be glad to help you get started. You will be surprised how easy these are. Learn to cut, pin, or sew pillowcases. Fun for the whole family! DONATIONS ALWAYS NEEDED and accepted. 100% Cotton or Flannel fabrics in fun, kids or teen prints or solid colors to go with it. Parking is around the pool area or on the street out front (Covina Blvd.) Hope to see you there!

NEW June 21, 2015 Sew with the families at this RONALD MCDONALD HOUSE in PASADENA 736 S Pasadena Ave , Pasadena, California 91105 from 11 am to 2 pm to help the families learn something new and have that sense of accomplishment when they finish a pillowcase. At this event, we are there to show the patients and parents and family members how to sew their own pillowcases. This is a lot of fun for them and it is a gift that keeps on giving as they put this pillowcase on their pillow it will bring that smile to their face. That is what we do -- make smiles for kids or families fighting illnesses such as cancer. Please let me know if you are coming to this event so we know who to expect.

Join us for Fun, Raffles, BUNCO and lots more! It is a fundraiser to help us raise funds for the MILES OF PILLOWCASE SMILES events in SEPTEMBER. This will allow us to purchase fabric and other supplies needed to make a MILE OF PILLOWCASE SMILES. We hope you can join us! Tickets are $15 and your ticket will entitle you to Door Prize drawings and your seat at a BUNCO Table. Never Played Bunco -- no worries, it is simple and we will have lots of helpers to teach you! We love to work with groups -- Girl Scouts, Youth Groups (Church), School groups! Does your employer encourage community service? We are a non-profit organization and we would love your help. Donations of fabric are always needed --- 100% Cotton and Flannel only. We need 3/4 of a yard for a body of a pillowcase then 1/3 of a yard for the border. That's it! If you need to clear out some space in the sewing room, we would be glad to help you by taking some of the material off your hands! Always need gift cards to purchase thread ( serger and sewing machines), sewing needles, rotary cutting blades and mats, and other sewing supplies! These can be sent to
