Poetry & Jazz Tasting
C'est Le Vin, 15 N. 17th St. RVA 23219
Thursday June 4, 7pm
No better way to relax of an evening than with good friends, good wine, and good words! As per our usual, we’ll spend the first Thursday of the month feasting our ears and souls on poetry & jazz while sampling from CLV’s amazing selection of vintages and small plates. Over the course of the evening, local wordsmiths of all experience levels will give us a “taste” of what they do, and Randy Burton and Bob Lambert of Super64, with songstress Wendy Carter, will show off their stuff. Want to join in the fun? Make sure to get on the list! Look for me early in the evening or email ahead of time.

Tea for Two: Poetry in Library Park
Richmond Public Library, Main Branch, 101 E. Franklin St., RVA 23219
Saturday June 6, 11am-1pm
I hope you’ll help me in welcoming amazing poetesses Angela Marie Carter (whose poetic memoir Memory Chose a Woman’s Body is up for a Library of Virginia Literacy Award this year) and internationally acclaimed Nicole Yurcaba to our own River City. Having heard them both read previously, I can assure you this will be a powerful afternoon! In this second of our 2015 Tea for Two series, each will be reading on RPL’s newly reopened veranda. As always, there will be coffee & tea (and, yes, brownies), plenty of time to relax, chat and meet the poets. In case of rain, event to be held inside.

Poetry on the Pipeline II

Where: meet by the overlook/parking lot at S. 12th St.
When: Saturday June 27, 4:00pm; event to be postponed in case of rain
RSVP required (reply by email: dottoressa.joanna at hotmail dot com)

Our river-time last month was so awesome we're back for another dose in June! As before, we'll be spending the afternoon sharing and discussing recent works and in general all things poetic while taking in an iconic Richmond river scene. Exploring encouraged, so bring your walking shoes & sunscreen, and bring poems! Note that this is an open air event with minimal amenities, narrow walkways and ladder-only access. Pack blankets/towels/whatever else you need to get comfortable, and dress for the weather. Light picnic fare and discrete adult beverages are likewise encouraged.

Freewrite Tuesdays at Sub Rosa!
Sub Rosa Bakery
620 N. 25th St., RVA 23223
Tuesdays, 10:30-11:30am
Who says poetry has to be done in a shuttered attic or at a lonely desk? Come battle your writer’s block with us! This group’s purpose is to create a cozy and informal venue to freewrite and converse-- we believe writing doesn't have to be a solitary sport, and that you never know what inspiration might walk through the door. Although we're open to specialized topics and sharing, there is no formal critique or workshop agenda— simply show up & come and go as you please!

Even poets get vacays! Our 3rd Monday workshops are currently on hiatus until September. Join us, though, for our regularly scheduled critique groups on the 2nd and 4th Mondays—just to make sure you’re still writing through the summer! Sessions are always completely free and open to all experience levels. Please bring 1-3 poems-in-progress with a handful of copies (4-8) to share round the table.

Small group critique dates: Monday June 8th & Monday June 22, 6:30-8pm

Hope to see you out around town some time this month!
