Blankets Creek 5 and 10 Mile Trail Run Racer Update - RACE DAY PROCEDURES

This is just a reminder of our new procedures for the upcoming race on June 27th at Blankets Creek. If you've read this already, thank you! Knowing these procedures will help us ensure we have a safe and smooth event for everyone.

A few additions/reiterations of important details:

▪ Optional early packet pickup is outdoors at OUTSPOKIN' BICYCLES this time: 3422 Sixes Rd, Suite 110, Canton, GA 30114 on Thursday 6/25 from 4 to 7 pm.
▪ No race day distance changes or runner swaps - we are trying to reduce contact so if you want to change distance, you need to contact me via email no later than 6/23. No changes after 6/23.
▪ We can still convert your entry to a virtual runner but you must email me no later than 6/23.
▪ Waivers need to be printed at home, filled out ahead of time, and brought to the race check-in CLICK HERE FOR EVENT WAIVER
▪ Bring Plenty of Fluids on Saturday - the predicted high is 90 degrees so make sure you are prepared. No aid station on 5 mile course.
▪ There is a split at Mile 4.5 where the short course goes straight/left and the long course goes right. READ THE COURSE SIGNS THAT WILL DIRECT YOU. Do not rely soley on a course marshal as they are trying to direct multiple runners that will be coming from different directions.

RACE PROCEDURES

▪ Make sure your race bib is pinned on your FRONT - do not bend the foam timing chip
▪ You may start the race anytime between 6:45 am and 8 am, so just walk up to the start, wait at the next available cone and wait for directions. The event will be Time Trial Format - you may start with friends, but groups need to be smaller than ten. YOU MUST START BEFORE 8 AM - NO LATE STARTS. Your time starts when you cross over the start/finish mats.
▪ No pre-race group meeting - Any last minute additions will be posted at check-in so you can photograph and read back at your car.
▪ No Aid Station on 5 mile course - short course runners must be self sufficient and carry their own water. There will be a Hammer Gel, Fizz and Hammer HEED mix packet included in each race bag.
▪ "Emergency Only" Aid Station on 10 mile course - We recommend all 10 mile runners carry their own calories and fluids, however we WILL have bottled water and Hammer Gels available at Mile 5 if you run out or get into trouble. If you take anything from the aid station, you MUST place it in the trash - bottles need to be fully emptied before being put in the trash. No throwing bottles or trash on the ground. Hand sanitizer will be available at the aid station.
▪ Course will be well marked with pink ribbons and pink/black arrow signs at turns. Pink ribbons indicate the direction you want to head and are also used to designate that you are on-course if it has been a while in between turns. Course marshals will be positioned throughout the course for your safety. Yellow signs are used at short/long course split and wrong way locations.
▪ Give other folks not in your family/running group at least 6' spacing while at the race venue and while out on the trail.
▪ ANNOUNCE if you are passing to groups/runners ahead and say PASSING RIGHT or PASSING LEFT and give them a chance to move to the side. WORK TOGETHER, BE NICE and give each other space out on the trails.
▪ Once finished, please do not congregate near the finish line. Blankets Creek is a large venue, so please spread out and find your own safe space. If you are hanging out in a group, keep it relatively small so we don't get in trouble with the Cherokee County Marshal.

RESULTS/AWARDS

▪ Finish times wlll be uploaded to our resutls website, mgaresults.com , so you can view them on your mobile device from your car or elsewhere at the venue. You are welcome to come up individually AFTER the awards ceremony to pick up your medal if you prefer. AWARDS WILL NOT BE MAILED - THEY MUST BE PICKED UP AT THE RACE

We strive to provide a safe and comfortable environment for all of our crew and participants, but any activity in the presence of other humans presents a potential risk of being infected with COVID-19. If you are the least bit hesitant to come out, are sick or showing signs of sickness or illness (running a fever over 100.4 F, having a cough or shortness of breath, have been diagnosed with COVID-19, had symptoms of COVID-19) or come in contact with a person that has or is suspected of having COVID-19, please sit this one out and we can convert you to a virtual runner - there will be other races we'd love to see you healthy at!

We hope you all are excited to get the competitive juices flowing again and hope that these events will provide some motivation to keep staying active. We miss seeing everyone and are looking forward to being together again - while maintaining a safe distance - at these upcoming events : )
