President’s Message

Dear Members of AIA New Mexico –

You may have noticed some new items in your inbox during the last couple of weeks. We are making changes that we think will benefit you – including providing more opportunities to gather and network. As such, we are trying something new this year – the 2017 Biennial Convention will be in September and the 2017 Design and Honor Awards Gala will be in October. We think splitting them into two separate events is a great way to see more of each other and to increase the number of awards that recognize our members for design, commitment to our communities, and leadership. So, without further ado:

▪ The 2017 AIA New Mexico Convention, RECAST | Architecture is Transformative, is being hosted by AIA Santa Fe on Friday, September 22, 2017 at the Santa Fe Railyard – and will be a one-day event with a keynote address the evening before provided by Carlos Jimenez. We have some great speakers who have committed to come and we can’t wait to share information over the next couple of weeks. Please see https://www.aiasantafe.org/recast for additional information. I am honored to be co-chair with Gayla Bechtol, 2017 AIA Santa Fe President; and we can’t wait to see you in the Railyard!

I hope you are as excited as we are. Both events are going to be great celebrations about what makes architecture in New Mexico unique, invaluable, and incredible. I look forward to seeing you – and answering any questions you might have.

Warmly,
