Founded by Sean Corby and Neville Murray in 2013, the Human Revolution Orchestra is a diverse and visionary ensemble featuring some of the UK’s leading jazz musicians, and guest artists from the U.S.
The ensemble first performed at a concert to celebrate UNESCO International Jazz Day, presented by SGI UK, the UK branch of the Buddhist lay network Soka Gakkai International, in Brixton on 30th April 2013.

Due to the success of the event, entitled Ode To The Human Spirit, SGI again presented a concert for Jazz Day 2014, this time at Kings Place in London and featuring U.S saxophonist Bennie Maupin, pianist Marc Cary and UK vocalists Lianne Carroll and Randolph Matthews.

This year, internationally renowned trombonist and composer Robin Eubanks will join the stellar Human Revolution Orchestra as a special guest for a series of UK dates including Ode To The Human Spirit 2015 on April 30th in London.
Whether performing with his groups, Mental Images or EB3 or with The SF Jazz Collective, Dave Holland Quintet / Big Band, Robin is an artist whose impact on audiences has proven powerful and lasting. Now with his current recording, Klassik Rock Volume 1, Robin cements his position as a progressive giant in music.
Robin was born to a very musical family: His brother, Kevin Eubanks, was the musical director for The Tonight Show; their mother is a music educator; another brother, Duane, is a renowned trumpet player; and their Uncle Ray Bryant was a prominent jazz pianist in his own right.
He’s won Grammys for his performances on Michael Brecker’s Wide Angles and Dave Holland’s What Goes Around and Overtime.
Robin divides his rigorous performing schedule with an appointment at The Oberlin College Conservatory where he serves as a tenured Professor of Jazz Trombone and Jazz Composition. He is an esteemed professor at Berklee College of Music, and served at New England Conservatory for two years.

The Mission

The Human Revolution Orchestra seeks to create the type of unity which is not a mechanical uniformity. Rather, it is a unity that has at its heart respect for the diverse and unique qualities of each individual. We treasure, and work to bring the best out of each other.
We are an ecumenical ensemble, respecting our individual faiths and spirituality, including secular spirituality and, through music, express our desire to contribute to creating a better, more just society.
We seek to harness the power of music to bring joy to others, elevate minds and give expression to the heart. Jazz is a unique art form in its ability to speak to people of all backgrounds regardless of age, ethnicity, social position, nationality or gender.
From its roots in African American culture, emerging from the trauma of slavery, one of the most tragic and heinous episodes in human history, jazz has been embraced globally, and has given voice to optimism in the face of adversity and oppression. Looking to the future, we offer a model of solidarity among people working for positive change in the world."
