Prayer

For whom are you praying today?
How can we pray for you?

We are here to pray with and for you, anytime! Prayer needs sent by early Monday morning will be included in the weekly Joys & Concerns email. We are also glad to send out prayer requests and praise reports anytime throughout the week!

Encouragement

Thank you to Marcia Kreps for sharing and Darla Smith for writing these weekly bits of encouragement.

"I pray you are all doing super this week. We had some gloomy weather these past couple days, but it helped me get some “inside” things done I have been putting off. Sometimes we get busy doing nothing, if you know what I mean. Getting sidetracked is so easy to do, especially for me when I get digging into stuff that I had forgotten about. I must reel myself back in to the task at hand. Can anyone relate with me?"

"My WORD for this week is “ORDINARY.” Honestly, I do not remember if I had used this in the past emails, but I just know it is what God laid on my heart. My sister had mentioned something on FB this weekend about her and her husband use to go to a festival where he would get his funnel cake. To some it would be just something “ordinary,” but to her it was extraordinary. Just a funnel cake to take her heart to special places in her memory. Then last week me and my friend Karen were sitting at the lake after dinner just watching the ducks swim around and eat bugs – something so “ordinary” but to us it was such a special extraordinary time that I know we will always remember. God takes our “ordinary” and turns it into – spectacular. We just need to look at what we think as “ordinary” and see God all over it in ways our mind sometimes overlooks if we aren’t careful. Take that extra moment and lend an ear in an “ordinary” conversation and let the Holy Spirit minister to someone. Take a moment and send a quick “ordinary” hello text to someone that has been on your heart and see God move. It is not coincidence but divine “ordinary” moments that we need to cherish. Let’s give God our “ordinary” moments in time and see the explosion of extraordinary all around us. God takes our “ordinary” and spins a beautiful tapestry of love and joy. Have an “ordinary” week that blossoms with joyful extraordinary results!"

The potter can make anything he wants to make. He can use the same clay to make one thing for special use and another thing for daily use. ~ Romans 9:21 (NCV)

News of the Week

Our week started on Tuesday with much jam making. This month we have Harbel's, the Flea (Saturday from 9am-3pm), and the Canfield Fall Market (September 17 from 9am-4pm)
to supply, so our crew has been up to their elbows in jam ingredients!

One of our favorite fall activities is apple picking at Huffman Fruit Farm. We enjoyed our Wednesday morning there, picking apples for our CSA. If you are looking for fall fun, we definitely recommend heading to the farm to pick with your family!

Today is our busy day of getting ready for CSA. Plus, Boardman's class was here this morning for their first visit. We love meeting new friends! Tomorrow Crestview will be back for their second visit of the year. Last week's visit was fantastic!

This Saturday's Harbel's Market has a bunch of special events going on, tied in to a day-long benefit at Firestone Farms. Head on out and join Salem Regional Medical Center and the SRMC Foundation in the fight against breast cancer at the 3rd annual “Pink Out” at Firestone Farms.
This event benefits the Foundation’s Cancer Fund. Harbel's will be having a PINK OUT PARTY from 2-9pm. Harvey’s Garden will be offering a Pink Garden Tour Hayride ($10 adults, $5 youth) sponsored by Hillcrest Farms. Proceeds will go to continuing education for breast cancer. We will be selling pink catnip toys, nature+nurture will have pink stuffed pigs, and other vendors will also have special products whose sales will benefit the Foundation. Come check it out!

All proceeds will stay right here in our program.

Check out our table in the Great Room for two special fundraising opportunities!

For I was hungry and you gave me food;
I was thirsty and you gave me a drink;
I was a stranger and you took me in;
I was naked and you clothed me;
I was sick and you visited me.
I was in prison and you came to me.

.....When you did it to one of the least of these my brothers and sisters,
you were doing it to me.
