Cybersecurity Planning--Staying Safe Online at School and Home

REMC1’s Director of Technology, Josh Hiner, was one of 20 technology leaders selected as a member of the State Cybersecurity Committee to develop a statewide cybersecurity plan. This task force was formed to create statewide cybersecurity standards with federal funds recently allocated to Michigan through the State and Local Cybersecurity Grant Program (SLCGP).
Josh serves on this committee in conjunction with his role in the Michigan State Educational Network (MISEN) advisory council. Through his participation, Josh is helping ensure our local schools and network service agencies are equipped, secured, and prepared to thrive in the current cyber environment.

REMC1 strives to provide a safe cyber environment for learning in our local schools but it’s also important that parents do the same for children at home. REMC1 highly recommends Secure the Family, offered through the SANS Institute, as a helpful resource for parents that provides practical tips on how to stay safe online at home.
