Prayer

For whom are you praying today?
How can we pray for you?

We are here to pray with and for you, anytime! Prayer needs sent by early Monday morning will be included in the weekly Joys & Concerns email. We are also glad to send out prayer requests and praise reports anytime throughout the week!

Encouragement

Thank you to Marcia Kreps for sharing and Darla Smith for writing these weekly bits of encouragement.

"It has been a little crisp here in Ohio, but the sunshine is gorgeous. A little deceiving at times. Not gonna fool me though – I am still wearing my flip flops – ha ha. God paints us a gorgeous picture every morning – take time to admire His glory. We are blessed beyond measure. He loves to give us every good thing. Make sure we take time for Him every day."

"Which leads me to my Word for this week, “ROOM.” If your “room” is anything like my room – boy, is it a cluttered mess. Where do I put all the stuff? I feel like I need to hang on to all the stuff, but in doing that – I do not leave “room” for something, not necessarily stuff, which may be so much better. We need to clear out our “room” to make “room” for Jesus. We need an encounter with Jesus in every “room” of our heart. Let Him have every part. De-clutter all the junk and let the Holy Spirit rule and reign. Let us make intentional choices that make “room” for Him. We will long for more of His Presence. We can have more intimate times with Him that will clear out more of us to make more “room” for Him. I pray we all prepare Him “room.” Have a wonderful, blessed week!"

And I will pray the Father, and He will give you another Helper, that He may abide with you forever - the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it neither sees Him nor knows Him; but you know Him, for He dwells with you and will be in you. ~ John 14:16-17 (NKJV)

Bibles at the Front Desk

Are you missing the Good Book? If you are, perhaps we have it here at the front desk! Stop by and see if one of these belongs to you.

Final Blooms of the Season

News of the Week

We wrapped up last week with cleaning and catnip toy making. We kicked off this week with a lot of weeding all around the property. Out front looks spiffy once again! We also worked on turning over compost, which helps to break it down and get it ready for use. If you bring in coffee grounds and egg shells in, those will also help enrich our compost and make our plants grow strong.

Wednesday saw us spending most of the day in the kitchen. We cleaned up, organized, and made lots of jam. Pineapple Habanero is back! We also made more Dragon and more of our seasonal favorite cranberry flavors.

Today we will be working in the warehouse, packing up the leftover items from the Giveaway. St. Vincent de Paul will come on Tuesday to take the donations to be put to good use in Youngstown.

Fresh Dried Herbs

There's nothing like herbs to bring a depth of flavor to a recipe! GG has our own lemon balm and sage that we grew and dried this season. Stop by the GG table and pick up a container to enjoy at home for a donation of your choice! Both these herbs have many uses, including but not limited to the ones mentioned below.
Sage is perfect as a rub for meats, a seasoning for roasted vegetables, mashed potatoes, or squash, and as part of the all important Thanksgiving stuffing. Lemon balm makes a great tea, works well as a seasoning for roast chicken or baked fish, and brings a pop of flavor when used to make a compound butter.

We Are Collecting...

GG is collecting egg shells, egg cartons, and coffee grounds. Please leave cartons at the
front desk. Egg shells and coffee grounds can be placed in the black wastebasket to the
left of the pew by the Café. Thank you for the items that have already come in!

Jungle Jam & Juicy Jam

Jungle Jam and Juicy Jam are available in several flavors at Reach for the STARS in Salem and in Columbiana at the Chamber of Commerce office. We are also glad to arrange a pick up at GG.

Jungle Jam: Blueberry Jalapeno, Cranberry Jalapeno, Hot,
Cherry Habanero, Peach Habanero, Pineapple Habanero, Dragon
Juicy Jam: Peach Lemonade, Cranberry Orange

Homemade apple butter available here, $5 per jar. Apple butter makes a great gift!
When your jar is empty, please return the jar and the ring.
GG can put it to good use next year. Thanks!

For I was hungry and you gave me food;
I was thirsty and you gave me a drink;
I was a stranger and you took me in;
I was naked and you clothed me;
I was sick and you visited me.
I was in prison and you came to me.

.....When you did it to one of the least of these my brothers and sisters,
you were doing it to me.
