REEL SISTERS HONORS TRAILBLAZERS SABRINA SCHMIDT GORDON & DAWN PORTER!
On Wednesday, Oct. 11, 2023, 6:30 pm, Reel Sisters of the Diaspora Film Festival & Lecture Series will proudly honor two award-winning filmmakers: Sabrina Schmidt Gordon, a Haitian-American producer, editor, and director, and Dawn Porter, an esteemed documentary director, producer, and founder of production company Trilogy Films. Kimberly Singleton, the author of I Love My People, will offer a poetic tribute to our honorees! Letrice Arlene Cherry-Sturdivant (Mama Winter in Mama I Want to Sing) will dedicate a special performance in honor of our trailblazers!
Sheila Kay Davis, founder/artistic director of New Professional Theatre, will turn as our Mistress of Ceremonies.
Join us for an evening of poetry, music and celebration at The Riverside Theatre, 91 Claremont Ave, as we honor both filmmakers’ talent and impactful contributions to the film industry.
ABOUT LETRICE
Letrice Arlene Cherry-Sturdivant is an aspiring actor, professional vocalist, and band Leader. Growing up in East Orange, New Jersey, in a time when music and art was still taught in schools and in church, Letrice honed her creative skills in choirs at an early age. Letrice recently had the honor of playing Geraldine “Mama” Winter in the 40th Anniversary production of “MAMA I WANT TO SING” The Musical presented by Mama Foundation for the Arts (February – March 2023).
