Sunday's Service - November 15, 2020

The featured Scripture is: Philippians 1:3-8
for Mike's message: The Family Business.

"No matter what you may do for a living, there is a higher purpose for your life. No matter what you do for work, God is at work in you and through you. You may have a career in mind, but God has a calling in mind. These are not contradictory paths but complementary ones. The apostle Paul assured his audience of God's work collectively, personally, and practically. We are the objects as well as the instruments of God's work in the world. Join us for this weekend in person or online!"

Thankful Thoughts

Help us fill the foyer window with all the things for which you are grateful. Next time you are here, take a moment to add your thoughts to a seasonal shape and tape it up. Not coming to church in person? Please email us your thankful thoughts and we will gladly put them in the display for you. So many reasons to give thanks!

Children's Ministry

Collide Kids Wednesday - Stop Being Selfish ~ God’s love forgets your sin completely, so put others first by forgiving them. It might be hard to forget what they did, but you can choose to let it go. Join Collide Kid Becca and Collide Crew Leader Danielle for this lesson about Philippians 2:3 ~ Don’t be selfish; don’t try to impress others. Be humble, thinking of others as better than yourselves.

Grab your kid(s) and spend 25 minutes together singing, dancing, laughing, and learning! We would love for you to also have your child(ren) memorize this week's scripture verse and motions and upload a video of them in the comment section under the video on the CLC Facebook page! Have a great week, Collide Kids!

Encouragement

Thank you to Darla Smith for writing and Marcia Kreps for sharing Darla's uplifting words with us.

"We have certainly had some spectacular weather here in Ohio. For those not in Ohio, you are certainly missing a blessing. God has blessed us with some gorgeous day full of sunshine!"

"God has put on my heart this week the word “MOMENT.” There are all kinds of moments. Happy, sad, exciting, thrilling, devastating, and more. In a “moment,” life changes as we know it. In a “moment” of time and space, we are changed. We can be changed for the better, like when we have children or maybe get married. In a “moment,” our life can be shattered with the loss of someone dear. In a “moment,” we maybe cannot take that word back that may have just escaped from our mouth without thought of consequence. In a “moment” of quiet prayer, God can reveal his love to us. In a “moment,” our words can lift a dear friend that needs a little boost up. In a “moment,” our actions can make or break a situation. In a “moment,” forgiveness can come. In a “moment,” we can be saturated in God’s presence (one of my favorite "moments!”). Let us make every “moment” count. Let us learn from our not so good “moments.” Let us soak up every “moment” of happiness and look for joy. Let our “moments” be pleasing to God – the ones we have control over. I saved the best “moment” for last. In a “moment,” we will be with our Savior one day!"

"I pray all your “moments” this week will be happy ones!"

In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet. For the trumpet will sound, and the dead will be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed. ~ 1 Corinthians 15:52 (NKJV)

News of the Week

It has been a busy week here at GG. We had a new client start, and we are very excited! Brista likes drawing and not getting dirty but she joined right in with our outside work like a champ! We will also have a visitor on Friday who is checking out our program to see if he wants to join our crew. This will be a trial work day for him and we are ready to see what we can do together!

The beautiful weather of Monday and Tuesday were perfect outside days. We were able to prepare raised beds for winter as well as clean out weeds and brush from out back. Wednesday's rain kept us inside for the morning, but there was still plenty to do. We rearranged items and cleaned out the music closet, cleaned in the Sanctuary, and, best of all, made Christmas ornaments. The picture above shows everyone with the ornament they made for the Reach for the STARS ornament contest, using wood slices from a tree they cut down on the property. Everyone also made a bonus ornament which will be used to decorate a GG Christmas tree in the Cafe - something we have never done before. Our clients are pretty excited to spend some days inside crafting ornaments for their very own tree.

GG Candle Fundraiser

In order to meet our fundraising goals of the year, since most markets and shows have been canceled, we’re partnering with Beaver Creek Candle Company on a fundraiser. We thought that this was the perfect time of year to sell these locally made candles, as people start thinking about the holidays and gift buying. AND, Goodness Grows will receive 50% of the price of every candle sold! All of the money will be put right back into our programs. (Big thanks to everyone who has already ordered! We appreciate it more than we can express!)

Another exciting thing about partnering with the Beaver Creek Candle Company is that they work with adults with disabilities, and every candle purchase goes to supporting their workers and facilities. So, it is a win-win all around! If you would like to learn more about this amazing candle company, check out their website at bccandle.com.

If you or your friends/family would like to purchase from this fundraiser, please let us know or order on the GG table in the Great Room. Orders and payment (cash or checks made out to Goodness Grows) due no later than the morning of Monday, November 30. We will then place the order and have the candles here 10-12 days later, in time for Christmas.

Thank you for your support of GG and for trying this new way of raising money with us,

For I was hungry and you gave me food;
I was thirsty and you gave me a drink;
I was a stranger and you took me in;
I was naked and you clothed me;
I was sick and you visited me.
I was in prison and you came to me.

you were doing it to me.
