eNews February 2019 Header v3

Hi Member,

As I'm putting this eNews together, there's lots of chatter online about the severe outage experienced by Facebook, Instagram & Whatsapp... And this is the perfect example as to why you need your own blog AND email list (see the blog post from last week: I'm struggling to keep up with social media, now we need a veterinary blog??!! :()

At this stage we still don't know what caused the outage - but imagine if the problem was ongoing...and you didn't have a blog OR an email list? How would you keep in contact with your clients and followers? So yes, you need a blog, an email list AND social media.

Now for this week! We've got 3 big, beautiful, new, blog posts. :)

The first is from guest blogger Gillian Shippen who has recently become Fear Free Certified - and thinks you should too!

The next post is Part 6 in our ongoing series: So Many Other Things: The Reality of Veterinary Practice Part 6 - For Love or Money. I love the wonderful photos and the honesty in Michael's posts (check out the lunch roster photo!).

The third post is one to help satisfy my endless curiousity about why people do what they do. We asked Liz Walden to tell us why she developed Pet Professional, what she wants to achieve and what that means for you as a business owner. Let's be honest - none of us wants to pay for insurance, but we also know it's a business necessity, so why not find out more about someone who actually wants to be the best?

Our aim is to help you - save time, connect & discover!

Enjoy your reading :)

So Many Other Things: The Reality of Veterinary Practice Part 6 - For Love or Money (Guest Post)

One prominent factor permeating dealings between practice staff and clients is cost. It was talked about a lot at Brudine, often in the context of affordability. It comes down to the inherent duality of veterinary practice as both caring service and private business, with cost the friction point between the two....

Leadership.....

What does an exceptional leader look like? (HRD)

There are some interesting points in this post from the expected:

"Exceptional leaders have a strong sense of where the organisation is heading towards and where it needs to head towards,”

to the unexpected:

"Interestingly, the research found that every exceptional leader exercised on a regular basis and commented afterward as to how important this was to help them in their leadership role.

“They had learnt that the days that they did not exercise were the days that they were less effective,” said O’Sullivan.

“They also learnt over time that the days they were having a tough day at work were the days to increase their exercise."

"Moreover, exceptional leaders don’t always start off with the goal to become an exceptional leader..."
