Congratulations, everyone, on a beautiful production of Coppélia! It takes a village to premiere a new ballet. To all our students, faculty, staff, volunteers, families, and patrons who made it possible ... thank you. From the gorgeous costumes to the lovely dancing, these were truly performances to remember. SAVOR THE MEMORIES ▪ Purchase DVDs from Final Take Productions. ▪ Photographs by Heninger Fotographik and Gaby Cavalcanti Photography are ready to view and purchase. View the Coppelia photos here. DON'T FORGET TO SUBMIT YOUR VOLUNTEER HOURS Did you know that many companies like Microsoft and Boeing not only match employee donations to non-profits, but will gift-match for hours spent volunteering? If you volunteered for Coppélia, please be sure to submit your hours for EBT. Contact your HR Department or info@emeraldballet.org if you need assistance. | Ms. Sarah Jacobsen, our Programming Director and dance instructor, has been a big part of EBT and EBA from the beginning. We are very appreciative of her creativity, experience, enthusiasm, support, and generous contributions over the years. She is leaving EBA and EBT this month to take a leadership position elsewhere. Reflecting on her time here, Ms. Sarah said, "We brought into existence a welcoming and inclusive community where students could establish roots and spread their wings. What a marvelous adventure it was. Thanks for taking me along!" We wish Ms. Sarah tremendous success, and hope to work with her again in the future. | Save the date! We'll be having our annual Summer Picnic on Monday, August 5 from 3:00-7:00 p.m. at Newcastle Beach Park. | ▪ Congratulations to Kaiya Jones and Aria Quincoses who will be sharing the role of Little Clara in next year's production of The Nutcracker. ▪ Ms. Erin would like to thank everyone who attended her Baby Shower at the studio. "The shower was so sweet. I am very thankful for such wonderful students and families. I am so excited for my new baby to meet everyone and to be a part of such a great community." Ms. Erin will be on maternity leave for part of the summer. ▪ GiveBIG went great! On May 8, we were very fortunate to receive over $850 in donations to EBT's Scholarship Fund. As always, thank you to our supporters. ▪ | Congratulations to Kaiya Jones and Aria Quincoses who will be sharing the role of Little Clara in next year's production of The Nutcracker. | ▪ | Ms. Erin would like to thank everyone who attended her Baby Shower at the studio. Created pattern and knowledge for mazurka corset belts. Helped with fittings and repairs and whatever was needed. Jennifer Schroeder: Made general costume prep, adjustments, repairs, and costume creation. Had her hands on pretty much everything that needed help. Betty Wu: Stepped in and helped with general costume prep, adjustments, and repairs. Took over making the flower/sequin applique for the Big Porcelain Doll dresses. | Amina Condel: Knocked it out of the park with the hats and hairpieces: 20 Mazurka flower headpieces, 25 clown hats, 20 flower hair accessories for Waltz of the Hours, and Soloist floral headpieces for Swanilda. Svetlana Minkina: Came and helped by scouting fabric stores for ribbon and fabric for Mazurka belts. Cut out all the fabric for the belts. Andrea Landvogt: Took prop assignments from Mr. Roman and made Dr. Coppelius' big black book and the pillow and coin bags used in Act III. Dahlinger Family: Made the Dr. Coppelius house set piece. Renee Crow: Fit, hemmed, and repaired all soldier costumes. So many volunteers offered time to work on anything our Costume Mistress Ms. Katie could give them. Thank you! | Do you shop at Amazon? EBA had six pieces compete in New York: Two ensembles, two pas de deux, one classical, and one contemporary. All of our students did an amazing job. Thank you parents for your support! Elisa, 14, competed with her partner Ryan. She was inspired by the entire experience. "It helped me realize how much better I could be, and it helped me set goals so I can work to improve my dancing. Learning different styles of dance in the master classes helped me to expand my knowledge of ballet." YAGP is the world's largest ballet competition, providing scholarships, training and performance opportunities to dance students aged 9-19. | PepsiCo Sculpture Garden in New York | Photo by Delwin Elder | | EBA students receive excellent year-round training as is evidenced by acceptance and scholarships to some of the world's most prestigious programs. Current students will attend summer programs at Bolshoi Ballet Academy, School of American Ballet, Pacific Northwest Ballet School, Joffrey Ballet, Central Pennsylvania Youth Ballet, and Victoria Academy of Ballet. We are so excited to hear about their adventures. We also can't wait to kick off our first-rate summer programs right here at EBA.
