Encouragement From Darla Smith

"I pray your week has been blessed and full of sunshine! It has been hot, sunny, and beautiful here in NE Ohio. My garden is going crazy. The leaves on my different squash plants are huge! Never seen leaves that big. They shade the garden nicely when it does rain. It always amazes me how God makes everything work together, even the plants in my garden. Simply amazing!"

"My WORD for this week is “REBUILD.” I have been feeling so strongly in my heart that there are some of us that feel knocked down, for lack of a better term. Just thought of a funny right then – remember the bionic man and woman? “We can “rebuild” them – better than they were before.” Sorry, went down a rabbit trail but it is the same with us – we can always pick ourselves back up and start again – “rebuild” – start over – begin again – do over. Is it fun? Certainly not, but sometimes it is necessary to get our attention. Sometimes we need to clear out the rubble or toss out what is not good for us and maybe keep us from ALL the Holy Spirit has planned for us! We can also help “rebuild” up others that may have lost their way by encouraging them and praying for them – just being there for them. Not being critical and saying things they already know. Ouch – that one spoke loud to me! Always show love in our “rebuild” as well as helping others in their “rebuild.” We can “rebuild” but Jesus will restore us as good as new! Come on! Let’s put on our hard hats and get to work! We have much to do!"

Ezekiel 34:15-16 New Century Version
I will feed my flock and lead them to rest, says the Lord God. I will search for the lost, bring back those that strayed away, put bandages on those that were hurt, and make the weak strong. But I will destroy those sheep that are fat and strong. I will tend the sheep with fairness.

We have been having fun in the kitchen this week. We pickled cucumbers (for next week's shares), made "Mom's Cucumber Salad," baked dill bread, and tried some baked squash. You can tell by those smiling faces that everyone enjoyed our culinary adventures.

Our most dedicated volunteer, Miss Nicolette Vignon, was here this week. She didn't hesitate to join in the weeding and other outdoor tasks. As a volunteer bonus, she enjoyed some mason jar planting. Thanks, Nicolette!

So far, CSA season is going great. We have had a bumper crop of zucchini, cucumbers, and squash. Now the tomato harvest has really kicked off. It's always so exciting to see what's going to be in the baskets on Thursdays. If you'd like to see what's growing, stop in for a visit. Our crew would love to see you!

For I was hungry and you gave me food;
I was thirsty and you gave me a drink;
I was a stranger and you took me in;
I was naked and you clothed me;
I was sick and you visited me.
I was in prison and you came to me.

.....When you did it to one of the least of these my brothers and sisters,
you were doing it to me.
