25,000+ GATHER AT PARLIAMENT FOR LIFE

March4Life2015Movement

On March 14th an estimated 25,000 amazing Canadians stood for life at Parliament Hill. Currently in Canada it is legal to abort a baby up until the point of birth and Canada is one of the only Western nations in the world that has absolutely no restrictions on abortion. Click here to watch an informative video by our founder, Faytene Grasseschi, about abortion in Canada.

The March for Life is consistently the largest issue based gathering at Parliament each year. Click here to read more about this year's event.

Even though 2015's March for Life has come and gone, you can still add your voice to this important demonstration for life. Please take a moment to e-mail your MP and MPP or MLA to let them know you agree with those who gathered in Ottawa this year.

Some key talking points would be:

that you feel it is unjust that a child can be aborted right up to birth in Canada
that you disagree with the fact that abortions are funded by tax payer dollars even though many Canadians disagree with them
that you believe as much funding should be given to crisis pregnancy centres as is given to abortion clinics in Canada (currently abortion clinics tend to be highly funded by provincial governments while crisis pregnancy centres tend to receive little or no government funding).

PROVINCIAL ELECTIONS

AltaPEIElection

Recently the nation saw provincial elections in both PEI and Alberta. Both of these elections resulted in provincial governments which would be considered more "socially liberal" in ideology. Only time will tell how each will navigate the many social issues facing their provinces.

Some of you have been contacting us asking for our input on how to respond in light of these election results. Our position this: once a leader or a party is elected the most important thing we can do is pray for their hearts to be swayed by Holy Spirit to make Godly decisions and that they would come to know Him if they do not already. 1 Timothy 2:1-4 states it this way:

"Therefore I exhort first of all that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks be made for all men, for kings and all who are in authority, that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and reverence. For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Savior, who desires all men to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth."

We invite you to join us in praying for the new governments in both Alberta and PEI.

BRIEF COMMENTARY ON THESE TWO ELECTIONS:

PEI:
The Liberal Party won a majority government in PEI with Wade MacLauchlan being set in as the new premier. Premier MacLauchlan has a season law background and is now the first openly gay premier in Canada.

In the wake of much controversy over the province's lack of access to abortion, Premier MacLauchlan has maintained that he has no plans to change the status quo. At the same time he has stated that he is willing to "open the discussion" regarding access and education surrounding abortion. Click here to read more.

It is unclear where such a "discussion" might lead. Please join us in praying that PEI remains an abortion free province.

ALBERTA:

Alberta saw historic provincial election results on May 5th where the NDP government won the majority vote for the first time, ending a 44 year run for the Conservative Party there. Most of those elected (49 out of 53) have never held provincial office before. The province's new premier is NDP leader Rachel Notley.

Click here to read Premier Rachel Notley's responses on various issues including First Nation's people, the obligation to include gay-straight alliance groups in schools, fully accessible and funded abortions in the province and more.

ONE MORE: ONTARIO'S PC PARTY ELECTION:

On May 10th Ontario elected their new Conservative leader Patrick Brown. Mr. Brown was previously a federal MP and has a very strong socially conservative voting record. If elected as Ontario's next Premier Brown is promising to scrap Kathleen Wynne's radical sex education curriculum. We encourage you to pray for favour upon him and wisdom for him as he steps into this new leadership position.

Parents from various ethnic backgrounds & regions across Ontario continue to rally together and take a stand against the new s-x curriculum. Recently a week long boycott was instituted by Ontario parents which saw up to 35,000 students absent from Toronto public schools. Thorncliffe Park Public School (which is in Premier Kathleen Wynne's riding) had a 90% absenteeism. In spite of this, the premier continues to state that she refuses to budge on the issue. At the same time there can be no doubt that the actions of these parents, which have gotten great coverage in the media, are also getting the attention of Ontario's governmental leaders.

In a poll conducted on May 1st 42% of Ontario residents were in favor of the s-x curriculum while 40% disapproved and 17% were undecided. Opposition to the curriculum continues to rise as residents become more aware of what public and private schools in Ontario will be teaching their students if this curriculum is instituted in September.

Please continue to join with those who are taking practical steps to oppose this curriculum. Below are some current action points.

ACTION POINTS:

UPCOMING RALLIES:
May 30th from 2-4pm North York Christian Community Church will be holding a education prayer rally calling all teachers, educators parents and intercessors to pray for the education system in Ontario.

Following the successful student strike mentioned above 'The Informed Parent' initiative is calling on Ontario students and parents to again take a stand. They are suggesting that students from Grades 3-6 not take the upcoming EQAO testing which is scheduled to take place on May 25th and June 5th. You can find more information about this here.

There are also two upcoming rallies in June that you can participate in.

June 5th: Parliament Hill, Ottawa
June 7th Queen's Park, Toronto

EMAIL PREMIER WYNNE:
We encourage Ontario residents to continue to take a stand by e-mailing Premier Kathleen Wynne to express your concerns about the curriculum. Her e-mail is: premier@ontario.ca

SPECIAL OUTREACH TO THE POOR

Cambodia2015sow

As of this week a team being run by a core group from Back to Life Canada (a partner ministry of MY Canada) are hitting the ground in Cambodia to show the love of Jesus in tangible ways. During this trip they will be doing outreaches to the slums, hosting a banquet for prostitutes, conducting several pro-life seminars and prayer walking around the city. This year's team follows a powerful trip in 2014 where lives were literally saved. Please join us in prayer that lives would be saved through the work of this team as well, that many would be impacted by the messages and that a lasting mark for Christ will be left.

If you would like to participate with this mission to Cambodia by making a donation to the team's work you can do so by clicking here.

These donations are tax deductible.
