Every Mother's Day is a chance to celebrate the important women in our lives. For the mothers of Clare House, we want to make sure this milestone does not go unnoticed. The women in our program are motivated (and challenged) everyday by their most important role: being a mother!

We held a small, safe celebratory picnic in our backyard and offered our residents barbecue, mac & cheese, and the 'icing on the cake' was homemade cupcakes donated by volunteer Theodore R. Griffiths!

Thanks to Amanda Peiffer, we were also able to provide the Moms with beautiful handmade Mother’s Day cards. Our Moms were also treated to lovely gift bags donated by Amy Bryant.

And thanks to the folks who donated to our first $5 Friday on social media - we were able to raise $145 to help us cover the costs of our barbecue!

Just as the weather is getting warmer and we are ready to launch into the "unofficial" start of Summer this Memorial Day weekend, I wanted to say thank you for welcoming me into the Clare House family. It has been wonderful getting to know the staff, Moms, board, volunteers, donors, and community over the last month.

So far I've gotten to have a Mother's Day Picnic with our Clare House Moms, attend a Luncheon with United Methodist Women of Bird-in-Hand United Methodist Church, and meet with the ladies of Deborah's Circle on Zoom to talk about Clare House.

An unexpected ask ...
As any nonprofit leader will tell you - always expect the unexpected. So, when I arrived on Monday to the news that we had a leak from our upstairs showers ... I had to roll with the punches. Thankfully, the problem is quite fixable by installing new shower doors. Our House Manager has been working to get quotes. The estimated cost for this is $1,290.
