Sunday's Service - July 26, 2020

An invitation to this Sunday's Worship from Marilee Bodendorfer:
"I would like to invite you to view Connecting Life Church/Common Ground Community Church this Sunday. David and I will be sharing about the Ministry of Rock Kidz Uganda, Inc and Divine Soccer Ministry. We will have pictures of the ministry in Masaka, Uganda. Many activities have been happening there for the children and families in this Ugandan city. Please join us and be a part. We also have video of the new school that is being built. They are a wonderful people there, most grateful for the chance to get an education and be a part of the kingdom of God. The program begins at 11am Sunday, July 26. Y'all come!! It will be live on the CLC Facebook page. Thank you so much. These ministries exist to be the hands and feet of Jesus and for His honor and glory."

The featured Scripture for this special mission-focused service is: Isaiah 6:8.
Then I heard the Lord asking, “Whom should I send as a messenger to this people?
Who will go for us?” I said, “Here I am. Send me.”

Encouragement

Thank you to Marcia for sharing and Darla for writing these weekly words of encouragement. Let us all accept the challenge to serve, wherever and however we can.

"I pray your week is especially blessed. God certainly has let us enjoy this Summer season we are in. Can you say 'HOT'? Hot or not hot - we are still so blessed. God is good ALL THE TIME. The word God gave me this week was SERVE."

"To serve is to "attend to". There are numerous ways to serve. God gives us so many opportunities during the day to serve or attend to. Hold the door for someone, let that person have your closer parking space (What!!!! LOL), take a meal to someone, pay for someone behind you in the fast food line, pray for someone when you say you will, wave at someone with a smile, call and check on someone you may have not seen in a while, ask your Pastor if there is anything he may need help with, help out at a food kitchen or church pantry. God has given us means to serve. I find myself always looking for ways to serve others. I am so thankful and blessed when I find someone to serve. Let's look each and every day for something, someway, someone to serve. Watch and see how happy you will be!"

~ Darla Smith

Everything in the world is about to be wrapped up, so take nothing for granted. Stay wide-awake
in prayer. Most of all, love each other as if your life depended on it. Love makes up for practically anything. Be quick to give a meal to the hungry, a bed to the homeless - cheerfully. Be generous with the different things God gave you, passing them around so all get in on it: if words, let it be God’s words; if help, let it be God’s hearty help. That way, God’s bright presence will be evident
in everything through Jesus, and he’ll get all the credit as the One mighty in everything -
encores to the end of time. Oh, yes! (1 Peter 4:7-11 The Message)

NEWS & EVENTS

News of the Week

This week's rain gave us some extra time to spend indoors. While inside, we are following the Governor's request to help slow the spread of the coronavirus by wearing our masks, as well as continuing to social distance and making sure we wash hands frequently. We worked in Common Ground's sanctuary, moving chairs around to help the church encourage social distancing when in-person worship resumes. Some of our folks worked on cleaning the toys in the Nursery and Sprouts rooms while the rest of the crew made Pineapple Habanero Jungle Jam. We also spent time outside this week, picking some berries in the woods, tying up tomatoes in the field and, of course, weeding our gardens. Today we will be getting ready for the CSA, which always keeps us busy with harvesting and setting up for the shares.

Welcome, Jade!

Our big news of the week is our new GG employee, Jade Rector. We welcomed Jade to our GG family on Tuesday and she fit right in! Jade is from Salem and just graduated from high school this spring. She has taken the required training from DODD, so she is ready to be Rachel's right-hand girl. Jade enjoys both working with people, having volunteered in the special education classrooms while in school, and with animals, having been an Angels for Animals volunteer. We are so glad to have her on our team!

For I was hungry and you gave me food;
I was thirsty and you gave me a drink;
I was a stranger and you took me in;
I was naked and you clothed me;
I was sick and you visited me.
I was in prison and you came to me.

.....When you did it to one of the least of these my brothers and sisters,
you were doing it to me.
