Happy 4th of July!!

Happy 4th of July

Dear Animal Welfare Supporter,

Wishing you a happy and safe holiday!!

Our 1/2 off holiday sale earned us $2,700 and helped cull the store of stale inventory. Let's get ready for a fresh look with new merchandise ready to toll out of the back.

Besides wishing you a Happy 4th, I wanted to take a moment to let you know that the store is doing very well but only BECAUSE of your volunteer service. If we had to hire instead of using the talent of volunteers, our profit margin would be slim to none. It's really only because of YOU that we're running in the black. Thank you to Diana and Kassey for working two shifts a week. Kassey is also training new recruits on the register!! Paula always jumps in when she sees my ass draggin, and now she will be a regular volunteer on Friday afternoons. Of course her late nights with Terri to dress up the display window is most appreciated. Those two make some impressive and tempting window displays. Thanks also for the volunteers who worked the 1/2 off sale this weekend. You ALL rock - together we make a formidable team.

Overall, your gift of time helps animals too and I want to acknowledge that part. Today is a day of independence, a freedom from oppression. It reminds me of the freedom we're affording to animals of cruelty and maltreatment. Today I'll be thinking of all of the ones we helped - the help that was possible only because of your kindness and compassion. :)

In closing, here is a recent EXCERPT from Kamala Harris’s press release: "Elie Wiesel was a survivor of the horrors of the Holocaust, bore witness for 6 million murdered Jews, and served as the world's conscience. During his Novel Peace Prize acceptance speech, he reminded us that action is the antidote to injustice. Neutrality, silence, and indifference do not serve those suffering, only their tormentors".

I find these last two sentences could/should be applied to animals as well.

Peace....
