Consigning Supplies Everyone Must Have

hanger

Hangers! Obvious I know, but it’s important to have the right hanger for the right item. Don’t try & stretch out baby clothes on a giant adult hanger. It’ll look terrible & shoppers will pass it by for an item that is hanging properly. Don’t have pant hangers? Pin pants to a regular hanger, but please pin them to the top part of the hanger, not the bottom. This will prevent them from sliding. Don’t have enough hangers or the right kind? We have boxes of hangers at the store and are happy to give you some if you’re short a few.

pins gun

Safety pins or a tagging gun: Your sales tag should be pinned to the upper left hand side of your hanging item (where a pocket would be on a man’s shirt). Safety pins are available at Walmart, grocery stores, drug stores & dollar stores in town. Don’t use straight pins please. They poke fingers. Tagging guns are great too & can also be purchased at Walmart or online. But please be careful to stick the tagging gun in a discreet area because they do make a bigger hole.

cardstock

Cardstock: Why cardstock instead of copy paper? Copy paper can rip too easily & your tags will get lost. Cardstock is thicker paper and is much less likely to rip off from the safety pin attaching it to the item. You can use colorful cardstock, but please do not use dark colored paper.

rubber bands
zip-ties
hole punch
ribbon

Zip Ties, Rubber Bands or ribbon and a hole punch: If you have an outfit and the top is on one hanger & the bottom is on the other, make sure they are secured together with a rubber band or zip tie so they won’t get separated. If you have something that cannot have the tag pinned on to it, punch a hole in the tag and attach it with a zip tie or a piece of ribbon. All shoes need to be attached to each other either by tying the laces together or by using ribbon or a zip tie. Again, punch a hole in the tag & thread the zip tie or ribbon through it. Always make sure that anything that has more than one part is attached to its other parts, so the different pieces will not get separated.

zip loc

Ziploc bags: Ziplocs come in all sizes and are great for securing items with many parts, protecting instructions, or placing the remote control for a game in. Then you can tape or zip tie the bag onto the larger item.

tape

Packing tape: This is a great tool to secure things together and also to seal things. If you have put pieces of an item in a ziploc, PLEASE make sure to put packing tape or duct tape (not scotch tape) over the closure. Little shoppers love to open up those ziplocs & take things out of bags.
Masking Tape or Stickers: We encourage (but don’t require) that our consignors put a piece of masking tape or a sticker with their consignor number on everything they bring. If your tag gets separated from your item, BUT you have your identifying number attached, we can look up the item in your inventory and then we can still sell the item. If an item is found with no tag and no identifying number, then it gets pulled from the floor and put in our “without tag” section, and cannot be sold. That little extra effort can make a difference in your pay check at the end of the sale!!

We have extras of all of the above listed supplies, so if you come up short, you're welcome to borrow some of ours. If you need anything, when you come to your drop off appointment, just ask, and we should be able to help you out!

Receiving dates are February 6-7 & February 13. Its time to get cracking!!
