For Your Prayers

Please use the buttons at the bottom of our newsletter to share with your network(s) among the saints of God to increase our prayer support.

Join us this month as Christ’s Church Militant here in earth to raise our voices in PRAYER and SUPPLICATION to our heavenly Father as his wrath is revealed in common sickness:

   •    PRAY that our God will intervene to stop the spread of COVID-19. PRAY for wisdom of our leaders in making decisions and PRAY for those who put others and family at risk by ignoring the protocols. PRAY that congregations see their observance of safety as mission to the lost, showing love of their neighbor.

   •    PRAY for those who are sick, that they will have access to the care and treatment they need. Give THANKS for Denise, Samuel, and his wife Deborah who continue to recover at home.

   •    PRAY for the health workers who are caring for those with COVID-19, for protection and stamina during long or intense hours. PRAY that effective biological safety protocols are maintained. Give THANKS for Carolyn, a nurse who has cared for COVID patients and has recovered. She is now reassigned within her practice.

   •    PRAY for those who are sick, that they will have access to the care and treatment they need. PRAY for Denise who has tested positive; PRAY for Samuel in ICU but still breathing on his own. PRAY for his wife, Deborah who is also ill but at home.

   •    PRAY for the health workers who are caring for those with COVID-19, for protection and stamina during long or intense hours. PRAY that effective biological safety protocols are maintained. PRAY for Carolyn, a nurse who has cared for COVID patients and has now tested positive and battle the illness.

   •    PRAY for grieving families who have or will lose loved ones to COVID-19. PRAY against despair; PRAY new mercies every morning.

   •    PRAY for those who are waking up each day to the fallout caused by COVID-19. PRAY for those with businesses and livelihoods ruined by the halt in many sectors of the economy. PRAY for those who may lose jobs and salaries. PRAY that our faithful Savior may walk by their side. PRAY for a member in assisted living who has found isolation in lockdown increasingly burdensome.

   •    PRAY for the pastors and lay leaders of local churches as state governments begin a phased reopening of institutions in terms of safety, technology and ministry. PRAY for our hosts, Covenant Presbyterian Church as they resumed public worship on 21 June.

   •    PRAY for All Souls that took the decision to wait until 2 August.

Sermon 2

A Prayer for a time of any common Plague or Sickness.

O ALMIGHTY God, who in your wrath sent a plague upon your own people in the wilderness, for their obstinate rebellion against Moses and Aaron; and in the time of king David, sent a plague of pestilence that killed seventy thousand, but remembering your mercy spared the rest: Have pity upon us miserable sinners who now are visited with great sickness and mortality; and in the same way that you then accepted an atonement and commanded the destroying Angel to cease from punishing, so may it now please you to withdraw from us this plague and grievous sickness; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
