Hi, everyone!

Did you know that listening to the radio makes us happier than watching TV or using the computer?

Seriously! It lifts our happiness and mood significantly, compared to not using any media at all.

Listeners say they choose radio as a lifestyle support system. It helps them feel better as they go about their daily lives. You can read about this media and mood study HERE.

And we can't think of a better reason to encourage you to listen to Fearless Parent Radio. Even if today's profiled show is about, um, nervous breakdowns.

Fearless Parent Radio

3/26: Kristina Alcorn and Maxed Out

So, it helps to talk about the things that are on our minds, right? Well, here's one: Moms are stressed!

They're breadwinners in two-thirds of American families. And in a challenging economy, workplace demands are tougher than ever.

Women still do more housework and childcare, which rate low on the list of enjoyable activities.

And most of the burden of caring for elderly parents disproportionately falls on women.

Let's be more direct. Lots of moms are on the brink, and some are, in fact, going over the edge.

This Wednesday, we're interviewing Katrina Alcorn, author of Maxed Out. Katrina left work one day and never went back.

Here's what struck me as I read Katrina's book. We all have a story. Her story may not be yours. But the essence of the narrative is the same. We're chugging along. Life throws us a curve ball or three. We adjust. We flex. We cope. Until we can't do it anymore.

Read the radio blog. Leave a comment and you might win her book. And if it's after March 26, you can find the archived show there, too.

What is Happiness?

Great question, Kelly Brogan! Our medical director is a holistic psychiatrist, and she shares her take on a fascinating new study about the meaning of human happiness according to our genes.

Yes, you read right. A genomic perspective on happiness. It turns out that happiness can have health benefits. A certain kind of happiness, anyway.
