Fearless Parent Radio
3/26: Kristina Alcorn and Maxed Out
So, it helps to talk about the things that are on our minds, right? Well, here's one: Moms are stressed!
▪ They're breadwinners in two-thirds of American families. And in a challenging economy, workplace demands are tougher than ever.
▪ Women still do more housework and childcare, which rate low on the list of enjoyable activities.
▪ And most of the burden of caring for elderly parents disproportionately falls on women.
Let's be more direct. Lots of moms are on the brink, and some are, in fact, going over the edge.
This Wednesday, we're interviewing Katrina Alcorn, author of Maxed Out. Katrina left work one day and never went back.
Here's what struck me as I read Katrina's book. We all have a story. Her story may not be yours. But the essence of the narrative is the same. We're chugging along. Life throws us a curve ball or three. We adjust. We flex. We cope. Until we can't do it anymore.
