Kicksville Radio Is On The Way!
The big news is our coming launch this summer of Kicksville Radio, in advance of the publication of Kicks 8 this winter. The 24/7 station will feature our keynote programme with the same name, blasting records and telling the stories behind our own brand of stellar wax and who made these slabs back in the day, with unissued material and unheard interviews from all the stars (and they're ALL stars) from the world we all share in the pages of Kicks, the grooves of Norton, the shellac of Crashing The Party, and new back-stories of the origins of beat groups inWaterloo Underground-- and the wide world of record mania that we all love to share. Kicksville Radio will be the audio arm for Kicks -- pretty much exclusively 50's and 60's sounds that were reissued for the first time (or discovered and issued for the first time) on Norton, or the stories told for the first time in issues of Kicks. You may know that Kicks mag was hatched in 1979, with the 7th issue appearing in 1992. It's been 30 years. Time for a new Kicks, and we're packing it to the eye teeth, with flashes and tribs to as many artists, labels, and scenes as can be squished in one ish. The dream is to make this a point of contact for this world of music that we are all proud to protect and share and preserve. You may never hear our stuff elsewhere, but you will hear it around the clock on Kicksville Radio. The legends and lore of our forgotten, unlauded heroes shall be delivered via the dim-lit back alleys, suburban bike racks, and ramshackle basement studios of music history.
