People-Praying

Prayer

For whom are you praying today?
How can we pray for you?

We are here to pray with and for you, anytime! Prayer needs sent by early Monday morning will be included in the weekly Joys & Concerns email. We are also glad to send out prayer requests and praise reports anytime throughout the week!

Encouragement

Thank you to Marcia Kreps for sharing and Darla Smith for writing these weekly bits of encouragement.

"This is the day the Lord has made – Be glad! God blesses us so much each day – too numerous to even count. Every day we have snippets of God’s goodness, no matter what is going on in our lives. My garden and flowers were looking bad even though we water out of our rain barrel. Last night we had a soaker and boy did that make a difference. I could almost see the garden and flowers smiling. Thank you, God, for the rain."

"My WORD for the week is “DISTRACTION.” This has totally spoken to my heart. I told my husband just yesterday we are so busy doing I don’t know what, we don’t get anything done. “Distraction” at it’s finest. How many times have we had a “distraction” just when we were about to pray, spend time with the Holy Spirit or read the precious Word? Or what about when I know I need to get up and exercise, but I have a “distraction” that keeps me lazy, like a good Hallmark movie? Oh boy, God is really talking to me with this week’s Word. We need to keep our eyes focused on God and keep “distraction” at bay. We need to be grounded in the Holy Spirit's presence to drown out any “distraction” so all we hear is His voice. “Distraction” is whatever gives us an excuse. Ouch!! What is our excuse? I pray we all realize that no “distraction” is ever more important than spending time with the Holy Spirit. He will teach us all things...all things that we need to make this journey we are all on. Give us discernment to ward off any “distraction” that keeps us from Him. An old song goes, I woke up this morning with my mind, stayed on Jesus. Let’s sing that every morning and keep “distraction” to a minimum. I pray we all keep tuned in to Him. Don’t squirrel!"

Keep your eyes straight ahead; ignore all sideshow distractions. Watch your step, and the road will stretch out smooth before you. Look neither right nor left; leave evil in the dust.
~ Proverbs 4:25-27 (MSG)

News of the Week

Last week wrapped up with root beer floats, a butterfly release, and wagon rides as we said goodbye to Keaton Surgenavic. He is off to Walsh for his freshman year of college, as soccer practice has started already. Next week we will celebrate Cameron and say goodbye to him as he prepares to head back for his third year at Ohio University.

On Monday and Tuesday, there was a flurry of jam making. We had peaches from Huffman Fruit Farm ready to go for Peach Habanero Jungle Jam and Peach Lemonade Juicy Jam. This weekend we will be at Harbel's as well as the Youngstown Flea, so we need plenty of jam. Stop out and see us in the community. Both locations have some really awesome local vendors and makers!

Wednesday's pleasant temperatures made it a perfect day for weeding. Our crew was hard at work all over fighting the never ending battle to defeat the weeds. Join us in the battle anytime - we love volunteers!

Today is CSA day, so we are busy preparing for pick up. We are also celebrating Caleb's birthday with a lunchtime feast from his family. Celebrating birthdays is one of our favorite things to do here!

Remember, GG will be at two locations this weekend! Board member Morgan will be manning our table at Harbel's and Kitty will be at the Youngstown Flea. Stop out at either...or both...locations for a visit and to check out all the local goodies!

The Wizard of Oz Wowed the Community!

GG is so proud of all our folks who were involved. Dustin, Tori, and Caleb gave it their all and
were fabulous! The entire cast and crew worked together brilliantly and pulled off another
fantastic show. We are grateful we had the opportunity to co-sponsor this triumphant
return to the stage alongside the non-profit Heroes & Halos. Big thanks from our
GG family to everyone who was able to come out and support all their hard work!

For I was hungry and you gave me food;
I was thirsty and you gave me a drink;
I was a stranger and you took me in;
I was naked and you clothed me;
I was sick and you visited me.
I was in prison and you came to me.

.....When you did it to one of the least of these my brothers and sisters,
you were doing it to me.
