Let's Get to Work

Local Protective Factors and Parent Cafe Work

On February 18, the Kalamazoo County Great Start Collaborative hosted a very successful Parent Cafe Facilitator Training. We had 28 community members in attendance. After this and the training we hosted in November 2019, we have almost 60 leaders from all over the county ready to plan and host Parent Cafes. Our partners at the Fatherhood Network hosted a very well-attended Cafe in January and are planning more throughout the coming months. The Parent-Teacher Association at Amberly Elementary also hosted one for their community. We are excited to see where this work goes!

Local Talking Is Teaching Efforts

The Kalamazoo County Great Start Collaborative is so excited to be partnering with Kalamazoo RESA Early Childhood programs, Kalamazoo Public Library, Kalamazoo Literacy Council and KCReady4s to bring simple activities for early literacy to all families. Stay tuned for some big events coming up to get organizations and families involved in this work!
