Come Color with the IPC Book Club!
Come color with us! This summer our Book Club is changing things up: we’re going to color and pray! Praying with Mandalas: A Colorful, Contemplative Practice, by Sharon Seyfarth Garner, provides a really nice introduction to four classic prayer practices: lectio divine, centering prayer, intercessory prayer, and the Ignatius Examen. Each of the four chapters has only 4 pages of reading, then 7 coloring pages designed to guide you through the prayer practice in a fun way.
Our first meeting will be Tuesday, June 6th at 7pm at Kristen Vincent’s house (aka The Parsonage, 889 Euclid Avenue). Our summer meetings will be laid-back and fun while we color and hang out. Join us! |
Summer SERVE Opportunity with the IPC Book Club!
Our Book Club has agreed to SERVE the Stewart Center by providing lunch for their summer camp. To do this we need your time and donations!
We will be serving lunch to 70 children June 6, June 13, and June 20. We need folks to help us set up, serve, and clean up (about 3 hours total).
Also, Laura Tangaturi and Kris Dwyer are crafting really nutritious menus for the kids, but we need donations to buy the ingredients.
If you are interested in helping in any way, please contact Kristen Vincent at kevincent619@gmail.com or 770-823-4848. |
Bishop's Special Offering at Annual Conference
Through the years, North GA United Methodists (including IPUMC!) have given generously to the Bishop's Offering for global mission initiatives like Imagine No Malaria, and local missions like Action Ministries.
The 2017 Bishop's Offering is for the Ministerial Education Fund (MEF) to provide educational funds for seminary students and licensed local pastors.
The need is great, the mission is worthwhile and the results provide called, gifted and educated pastors for our churches. Please, give generously! Click here for a short video featuring some of our North GA beneficiaries of MEF. |

Kristen will be offering a workshop on her new book, Beads of Healing. She'll also have a booth where she'll be selling prayer beads, holding crosses, Deeply Loved merchandise, and much more!
The Festival is July 13-16 in Hot Springs, NC, and you can camp. glamp or do Airbnb. Click here for more info! |

Ecumenical Prayer Cycle
As a way to remember our connection with Christians around the globe, we will start using a great prayer tool: the Ecumenical Prayer Cycle. Each week of the year a number of countries are highlighted to lift up in prayer. There are also prayers written by Christians in those countries that you can use. By following the cycle throughout the year, you would pray your way around the globe. We will start listing the different countries each week in our prayer list.
For the week of May 28 pray for: Angola, Mozambique
To find out more and to find links to the prayers from countries around the world click here. |
We will have a Church Conference on Tuesday, June 6th at 7pm in the Sanctuary
No Monday Morning Men's GROW on 5/29 due to Memorial Day and the church office will be closed. Have a safe and happy Memorial Day! |
