Baptism of Our Lord: Worship at 8:00 am 10:30 am

The Gospel for this Sunday:

Matthew 3:13-17

In the waters of the Jordan, Jesus is revealed as the beloved Son of God. Through this great epiphany, Jesus fulfills all righteousness and becomes the servant of God who will bring forth justice and be a light to the nations. In the waters of baptism we too are washed by the Word, anointed by the Spirit, and named God’s beloved children. Our baptismal mission is to proclaim good news to all who are oppressed or in need of God’s healing.

Other recyclable materials go in the blue recycling containers, or any container marked just “Recycling.”
Thank you to those of you who are recycling Styrofoam by putting it in the Styrofoam recycling containers. Please make sure any Styrofoam containers you put in are completely clean and free of any food residue. Styrofoam that is contaminated with food residue or anything else won’t be recycled. Healing Racism Workshops

January 19 from 11:45 am to 1:30 pm
Are you angry about racial inequality? Do you just feel bad about racism and seem to be stuck? Madison’s Grace Episcopal Church offers a series of 4 two-hour workshops where you can share your feelings and frustrations, and learn practical strategies to help yourself and your community. We will talk about how racism is learned and how it grows. Come share with others in a safe space, challenge yourself, and practice reactions to real-life incidents. Using current books and articles, we will guide discussions to help you move from confession to transformation. We provide printed materials for future reading. Workshops and a light lunch are free, but we gladly accept donations. January 19th is the first workshop, followed by 3 more workshops in February and March. We are located on the Capitol Square, 116 West Washington Ave. See the Grace Episcopal website: under Outreach, and click on “When the Diagnosis Is Racism,” or visit our Facebook page. Call 255-5147 for more information.

Recycle the Warmth Blanket Drive

Recycle the Warmth blanket-stack

January 24-26, 2020

St. Vincent de Paul annually provides hundreds of needy people in Madison and its surrounding communities with good-quality, recycled and new blankets and bedding. Lake Edge is one of dozens of area churches that participate in this drive annually. All the bedding we collect or purchase during this drive will then be given away during the next twelve months to needy individuals and families who come to the Center for Vincentian Charity (2033 Fish Hatchery Road in Madison) seeking assistance from the Society of St. Vincent de Paul. Please bring your donations of new or gently used blankets and bedding during the month of January to church. There will be a RECYCLE THE WARMTH barrel located just outside of the nursery door. Questions: contact Anita Grue at or 608-698-0345.
