Tunisia

Our Marketing Guru Feriel went to visit her family in Tunisia. While Tunisia is popular with European holiday-makers, it is one of the lesser known destinations for Australians.
This Northern-Hemisphere summer, visitors have been returning to this very special country filled with sunshine, character, resilience, diverse cultures, a stunning landscape, rich history, and a fabulous local cuisine. Here are some of Fel's must-visit recommendations:

Tunisia boasts a wealth of historical sites dating back to ancient times. The ruins of Carthage, an ancient Phoenician city, are a must-visit. The amphitheater of El Jem, one of the largest Roman amphitheaters in the world, is also a fascinating site to explore.

Tunisia's Mediterranean coastline is famous for its beautiful beaches and resorts. Fel's pick for coastal destinations include Sousse, Hammamet, and Monastir.

And for foodies…Tunisian cuisine is a delightful mix of Mediterranean, Arabic, and Berber influences. Make sure you try local dishes like couscous, brik (a savory pastry), and of course seafood specialties.

Inland, you'll find the vast Sahara Desert. Take a desert excursion to places like Douz or Tozeur, where you can experience the unique desert landscapes, and even stay in traditional desert camps. Are you a Star Wars fan? Some scenes from the original Star Wars movie were filmed in Tunisia, including the iconic planet of Tatooine, Luke Skywalker’s home planet!

Singapore...

The lovely Amy attended a leading global event for the luxury travel industry, ILTM (International Luxury Travel Market) in Singapore then headed to the UK for her sister’s wedding.

Here are some of Amy’s tips and recommendations for your next Singapore stop:

Make sure you head to Haji Lane! Not just known as an eating-drinking-shopping street, its buildings are ornately decorated with fantastic street art. It’s a colourful and dynamic neighbourhood - and bonus, it’s right next door to one of our favourite hotels, Andaz Singapore!

Make sure to visit Gardens by the Bay, a renowned and award-winning garden attraction located in Singapore. It is a futuristic and expansive garden complex that spans 101 hectares in the heart of Singapore's downtown area, adjacent to the Marina Reservoir. The Gardens by the Bay was officially opened to the public in 2012 and has since become one of the most iconic landmarks in the city.

Feeling hungry? Don't miss trying local dishes like Hainanese Chicken Rice, Laksa, Chilli Crab, Char Kway Teow, and Satay. Hawker centers are great places to sample an array of Singapore specials at great prices!

...and London

On her London stopover, Amy popped in to see one of the royal family’s favourite hotels – The Goring Hotel, a luxury 5-star hotel located in the heart of the city. It’s THE spot for Afternoon Tea - make sure you book your seat in the conservatory and enjoy views of the garden while sipping your tea (and champagne).

The Goring is where Princess Kate stayed the night before she married Prince William. As you head up the staircase on the left-hand side you can see a painted mural which Princess Kate had a hand in - finishing the silver mane of the unicorn!

Amy stayed at The Londoner, located in Leicester Square. With a prime location in the heart of London's West End, the hotel offers easy access to many of the city's top attractions, theaters, restaurants, and shopping districts. It's an extraordinary "super boutique" hotel , with an intimate and individual feel despite its staggering scale. The hotel is spread over sixteen storeys and boasts 350 bedrooms, 35 suites, six concept eateries and bars, and more. One of the highlights of Amy’s stay was The Retreat where you will find a 12.5 metre swimming pool, sauna, steam room & hydropool and even has cabanas!

Bali

Our newest recruit, Tiana took a lovely trip to Bali with her partner. Ti has been to Bali five times and absolutely loves it! It is one of her favourite places for a quick and easy escape from reality!

This time she mixed it up and "Bali-hopped", staying in Nusa Dua, Uluwatu, Seminyak, Lembongan, Legian & Kuta. Ti says that Seminyak is her number one spot to stay as it really does make a great base to explore the many different parts of the island.

Tiana’s Top Tip: Get a local driver for the day! They will take you literally anywhere you want to go and will give you insider information along the way! There are thousands of restaurants, shops, spas, day clubs, markets, and more - often within walking distance or a short drive away.

If you are looking for that beach vibe, Lembongan is Ti's go-to. SJT has a range of private luxury beachfront villas available and this is definitely the way to stay in this part of Bali. Ti spent her days relaxing, swimming, having a few cheeky cocktails and also did a spot of adventuring. They hired scooters and rode over the yellow bridge to Ceningan, plus they took a day trip to Penida island for a bit of exploring and sightseeing! (Just make sure your travel insurance has Activity Cover activated to cover you on the scooter!)

Ti’s next adventure is Turkey and Croatia in September, so watch this space!
