Happy November Laurel School Families!

I hope you enjoyed some of our photos from last week’s Spirit Week! We had a wonderful week with the students with fun activities and theme days all week long; it was amazing to see everyone’s Laurel Spirit!

I know many of you are wondering how our teachers and students in our toddler classroom are doing, and at this point in time, we have no changes to report and no further positive cases.

As we move forward into the late Fall I would like everyone to review our current mitigation strategies we are using at school to keep our community as low-risk as possible. Please see strategies listed in this newsletter and how they will evolve as we utilize our indoor spaces more often.

Also, with the upcoming holiday season, please be aware of the travel policies in place by the State of Massachusetts. The school follows these guidelines and we ask that you make the school aware of all travel plans and to be mindful if you have visitors from high-risk areas. For more information high and low risk areas and travel guidelines, please see the link below:

MA Travel Order

I thank you in advance for partnering with us to do our best to continue to make our community as low-risk as possible and for everyone to maintain their vigilance as we work through this challenging landscape together.

Best,
Amy Carroll

Safety Protocol & Mitigation Strategies

We are creating a low-risk environment for our students, families and faculty members by using the following strategies to
lower the spread of illness.
● Screening Process before entry to the school using Remini App
● Hand washing protocols – promoting frequent hand hygiene
● Hand sanitizing stations – upon arrival and departure of school/entering or exiting the school for class or play
● No commingling of groups during the day
● Our Disinfecting Products from Purifly
● Cultivating our outdoor spaces for learning and play
● Designated isolation space for children who are displaying any symptoms of illness
● Wearing Masks when unable to be socially distanced more than 6 feet
● Faculty/Administrators wearing non-latex gloves when: diapering/toileting, administering medication, cleaning, during screening activities
● Socially distancing students throughout the day
● Only students, faculty and administrators will be allowed in the building
● All students have a temperature check with a no-contact thermometer prior to their entrance to the school.
● Faculty members are also monitored for any symptoms receive temperature check prior to entering the school.

Continued strategies as we move indoors:
* Windows remain open for more ventilation of classrooms/school spaces
* Although our air systems have been updated prior to reopening, air purification systems will be placed in the school

Reminders of our Health & Safety Practices

We appreciate families using an abundance of caution when deciding if their child(ren) should stay home when they are not feeling well. Please continue to use the following reminders so that we are able to continue to keep our community as low-risk as possible:
* Questionnaires must be filled out each morning prior to your child's arrival at school.
* After morning questionnaires are completed, the next step is checking your child(ren) into school by scanning one of the QR codes posted at the front of the school. You will digitally sign your name and then hit "Ok" or "Save" (this is only done during drop off).
* If your child is experiencing any symptoms of illness we ask that you keep your child home until they are symptom free for more than 24 hours WITHOUT the use of medication.
* If you have children in your household that are part of another school district and you have been notified that they came in contact with someone who has tested positive for COVID, we ask that you notify the school and keep your Laurel School child(ren) home to quarantine.
* We ask that all families continue to practice vigilance when traveling to higher risk areas and when having any sort of gatherings that you refer to our state guidelines and use safe, healthy practices inclusive of social distancing, wearing a mask and washing your hands.

The more cautious we all are, the more it will help lower the risk of spread in our greater community and in our school community, allowing us to remain open. Please help us continue to keep our school safe and viable during this most challenging time!
